I think the most important thing is how are they networked?

Are there multiple very long CAT5e cable strung across town, or some other dedicated lines, or is it a connection like VPN or dial-up? Connections set up with remote access may indicate something up with the server. Since there's only one connection issue with multiple connections, it might be permissions... IE, on my private FTP server I can cap the bandwidth. This problem can appear with both setups (dedicated lines and VPNs).

    Odd network problem.....

Ok I am trying to help out a friend, who works for this company that has 3 buildings in 2 cities.... and there is this odd network speed issue.....

All three building are networked together 2 in the same city but on opposite sides, and the other is 2 cities away.

1+2 = fast connection (in same city)
2+3 = fast connection (in different cities)
1+3 = slow connection (in different cities)

The problem of course is with building 1 and 3, and he cant figure it out. I don't know that much about networks, I know basic stuff, but I wanted to try and help him out anyway. I know none of the networks info -.- so I know asking to find a problem is hard to do lol.... but I was wondering if there might be a more general issue that might be the source of the problem, or if someone has ran into this issue before.
Working...
