Text rendering problem in Firefox

Screen cap attached. How do I get it to stop substituting boxes with hex codes for unusual characters? I'm getting this a lot on other sites that use curly quotes and apostrophes and the like, too. I thought perhaps changing my default character encoding would help, but it doesn't seem to.

You have the Asian languages pack installed? This is for windows, not FF.

Though you probably know that and have it... if it isn't that then i don't know. The same is happening to me but i don't have the Asian languages installed... can't really say if its really that.

Yeah, I do. This stuff displays fine in other applications.
