Well honestly I ended up deciding I just didn't want an Nvidia card and wanted to roll with what I had chosen. I did make sure that the ram I selected was DDR2 1066 even. But since I built my last computer without knowing a great deal about them I have a question about my power supply. Is 575W enough for what I'm trying to put in here? Also do I need to worry about extra fans or anything? I don't want it overheating.

Nanatsu, you don't have to pair them, the difference is not all that noticeable, just a suggestion.

Honestly, pretty much any computer that you are building with parts that are available today is going to run FFXI just fine. I started playing FFXI on a 1.3 GHz AMD with 512 MB of RAM and a pretty crappy 128 meg video card and it ran just fine.

As far as what you have picked out hardware wise, it looks fine to me. Personally, I prefer Samsung monitors and Asus motherboards, but thats just a preference I've formed over the years with my various builds. You didn't specifically say what the clock speed is on your RAM (DDR2 covers a big range)...your board supports up to DDR2 1066, so make sure to get that or at the very least DDR2 800.

Other than that, it looks good. It'll run FFXI no problems at all...

You didn't specify, but if you are going to be running Vista the process to install FFXI is a little trickier than it is on XP. Here's the link that shows you how to do it.

The Acer monitors are alright, but there are nicer ones if you can afford it.

Wish I could but I haven't seen one that fits within my budget that was what I wanted. Especially not looking to get any widescreen monitors if I can help it.

Not every one would agree with me on this.... but if your going to use Radeon, us an AMD processor, if your stuck on Intel, then change the video card to Nvidia. I know that sounds silly, but they work alittle better in pairs.

tbh I'm not a fan of AMD or Nvidia but I can deal with an Nvidia card if I have to, so I'll look into it. Thanks very much for the responses ^^

It's been a long time since I built a computer but I decided I want to try to do so, since my current system is getting on in years. I have a list of components and I was wondering if anyone could tell me if they fit well together or not. And if not, any suggestions for a good system that will run ffxi but isn't too expensive?
