I'm looking for an IRC plugin for firefox-- but one that, unlike Chatzilla, runs as a frame in Firefox, instead of another window or tab. Somewhat in the same way I can press CTRL+B and have a bookmarks sidebar popup, I'd like something similar, except across the bottom of the window. I'd really appreciate it if someone knew where I could find something like this.

Re: Looking for a firefox IRC plugin
As Dak's response, and now mine, don't quite help you in what you're looking for, but why don't you get a dedicated IRC app? Anything that runs in Firefox will probably be a pain as it will most likely be plugin intensive.
I use CLI IRC apps personally. irssi, or BitchX will come installed outta the box in most Linux distro. I've always hated epic but it's an option. Run them in screen and access them anywhere.Odude

Re: Looking for a firefox IRC plugin
Change your WM to Ion and everything can be a tab. Then you can use dedicated apps for things.
A dedicated app is always better then tacking on functionality to something that wasn't made for it.

Re: Looking for a firefox IRC plugin
Now, neither Dak or I answered your question, but in our defense you never actually stated the stipulation that you didn't want another window dirtying up your desktop. But with all the searching I've done, I can't find anything that even does the IRC function you're looking for let alone doing it the way you want it to.Originally posted by Feba View PostBecause I don't want to deal with another Window. Duh.
Sounds like a great idea though. Suggest it some place, or if you're a coder - get to work on it. I probably wouldn't use it as a screen addict, but it's a great idea.
Mhurron offered a means for you to run your apps and not clutter your desktop. Considering the information provided, that was the assumed goal in your inquiry. You don't have to like or use the suggestion, but there's no need to be a "Feba" about it.Odude
