Re: Ok, looking interesting
That is kind of intriguing...I've never seen or really heard of anybody running FFXI on a virtual machine. It's almost scary to even think about what kind of performance you're going to get though...how much of a load does the VM software put on the CPU by itself, much less with FFXI running? >.<

Re: Ok, looking interesting
Fusion added DirectX 8.1 experimental support with Beta 2. Left on its own a VM uses very few resources, even Vista Business runs decent once I upgraded my Mac to 2gb ram and could give Vista 1Gb. Updating FFXI gives a load similar to a real machine with a bit of overhead, or 50-60% usage of my Macs Core Duo.Originally posted by Tekumel View PostThat is kind of intriguing...I've never seen or really heard of anybody running FFXI on a virtual machine. Re: Ok, looking interesting
It's updating so the installation should all be fine. I'm pretty sure that I'm going to have to use 3d Analyze to provide TnL support, but I'm not sure right now what else I might need.
It's even nice to just hear the PoL menu music though

Re: Ok, looking interesting
Ok, nope. With and without 3d Analyze the VM crashes hard.
I'm addicted and am going to try boot camp.

Re: Ok, looking interesting
Works on my MacBook, using XP in Boot Camp without 3d Analyze.
