New PC

hi every one, i have just ordered FFxi of ebay, i live in the uk and here are the specs for my new pc...

Motherboard = 400/533/800 + overclocking mode +onboard LAN/5.1sound/usb2/4 usb ports/etc

CPU = P4 3.20Ghz +HT

Mermory = 512Mb DDR PC3200 (soon to be 1034mb)

G. Card = nVidia FX5600XT 256MB

HDD = 160G Serial ATA with 8mb cache

internet = 56k dail up (cant get bb yet in my raod)

Monitor = 17" Dell ULTRASHARP TFT + DVI

Sound = surrond sound + 100wat subwoofer

Drives = DVD Rom + DVD-RW+&- 8x + CDRW 48x +floppy drive

Printer = 3in1 lexmark P1350 + flash card readers

Everything is black

Glass side panle on case

blue neon strobe lighting

i just took the ver 1.1 benchmark and i only got 4324, can anyone help me on how i could get a better score

Very good specs, but id say you would have to get broadband, your gonna be murdering yourself once you experience the game with a 56k =P

i payed about 80 for that G.Card so i recon about 200 would be the most i would dish out

the pain of 56k will turn your game experience down. however get an nVidia Geforce *4*Ti(Not MX!) series card if you want better performence from the nVidia side, or go ATI Radeon 9800 Pro and dish out 10x more money than you want. I use a Geforce4 Ti 4400 (out of production - almost the same as a 4600 but 100$ less, can easily be overclocked to match the 4600).. and the game runs great, there is some video lag when the weather effects comein but i also run AIM n' stuff in the background so heh. do what you please

GeForce 4 Ti, GeForce FX 5700, Radeon 9600, GeForce FX 5900, Radeon 9800. Right side being the best, that's what I would chose from.

that is entirely false... you can easily get this card for about $230 (us money) and due to the dollar at $1= .55 UK, it's more than within your price range. besides, 9800 kill your graphics card. (or you can wait till X800 is widely availiable and get a killer system)


but, that card will serve you pretty well in moderate rez outside towns w/o giant battles (in town and big battle may result in a bit of video lag)
