Ok, so I went ahead and splurged and bought a 64 bit processor and was wonder if I try the trail or when the 64 bit windows comes out would I still be able to run FFXI on it without any problems?
being quite frank...
you'll be hard pressed to run ANYTHING (save for minesweeper or notepad) on Windows "without problems"...
BUT you shouldn't have anymore problems than on most other AMD AthlonXP chips...
I run on a AMD AthlonXP 2500+ (with nVidia GeForce4 Ti4400) and except for a scant few and infrequent hiccups or freezes, it runs quite nicely.
The Barton FSB (which I think is either stock or something better in the 3000+ and 3200+ chips) I found to be more stable than my old AMD 1800+...
Originally posted by Annorax I think we somehow got confused in between somewhere. Your talking about a regular AMD XP chip and I am talking about the new 64 bit AMD.
Well...
The Athlon 64-Bit ClawHammer processors are more or less built on top of the Barton core, which was optional on newer AthlonXP Processors, so, mathematically, there's not much difference between the two types =X
Regardless, you still shouldn't have many problems...
