Soooo, i recently built a new computer, and I've been getting problem after problem ever since. Eventually I got to a problem which was just unfixable. It had been working perfectly until I tried to install a Radeon 9600XT, and after that the monitor wasn't turning on, and it turned out that my AGP Slot had to have malfunctioned. I ordered a new motherboard of the same type (Asrock K7S8XE) and installed it. After that, the video problem was fixed...but a new one arose. My greatest adversary yet! I at least tried to do everything without reformatting, since after all, it was the same type of motherboard.
However, after Windows began loading normally, the computer restarted and gave me an error message saying that Windows found an error caused by a hardware change. This was logical, of course, since I did change motherboards. It gave me the options to restart, start in safe mode, stuff like that...however my keyboard wasn't working. I had to wait for the computer to restart itself. Of course, knowing my luck, it would not allow me to start Windows at all. Every time it would get to where Windows would start, there's just a black screen.
That's not where it ends. I booted from my DVD+RW and tried reformatting, since that would seem to be the reasonable way to fix the problem. Of course, after waiting 2 hours for the hard drive to reformat, the computer restarted to begin Windows Installation. Hmm...what happens next? Same problem. Instead of Windows Setup beginning, black screen. I booted from the CD again to see what I could do, and it told me that the partition on my hard drive that I had formatted was either corrupt, unformatted, or needed repairing.
I'm currently retrying to format and I'm gonna see what happens. As far as I can tell, everything was installed correctly; I had a friend to help me and doublecheck if everything was done correctly. Does anyone have any suggestions on what might be wrong? I think I'm gonna die if I can't get this thing to work.
