  • Graphics Card, or RAM??

Ok, I have the lowest you can have for these, 32 meg card and 128 meg of RAM. I can only upgrade 1 of them for now, which one would be better? The thing im looking to improve is the lag I get, I dont really mind my resolution for background and foreground (640x480, 512x512), but I cant set that any lower or its just blurs! It takes me quite a while to zone, and it lags when theres is alot of ppl around. What will help this more, a new vc or more ram?

128mb of ram is OKAY i suppose (that is if you shut down all background programs including anti-virus) but the gfx will screw you in, upgrade that first and think about a ram upgrade later.

      what to choose?

Well both those specs are pretty low, What ram are using? Im sure if your pc's old you could buy a sticks of 512 for £20. Id recommend upgrading to Ati radeon 9200xt if your on a budget, In all that would probably cost around £80, maybe less.
      Hope that helps :D
      Cheers

DDR SDRAM, dunno how to see if its 333 or 400mhz, the graphics are fine for now, just want it to run smoother, which is what I think the RAM will help. I have nothing running in the background, I always end it all. Dont give me lectures saying "ure graphics will look shit", yea sure they are dodgy, and I have the game running and i kno what it looks like. I wanna clean up this lag a bit, really annoying in a pt:sweat:

i'd upgrade the vid card, then atleast you won't have to use that stupid emulator cause i'm sure that slows the game down abit

DDR SDRAM? ... It can only be one of those. Anyway, I'd go with DDR memory personally, since new versions/upgrades don't come out every month like video cards. I have a stick of 512MB DDR I can sell you if you like. PM me if you want to set something up.

Yea thats what I thought too it could only be one of those, but when I start up and look in info, it says 128MB DDR SDRAM, i asked someone that sells PCs (a friend of mine) and he said his not sure, but he'd say it would be just DDR. I just wanted to kno which to upgrade first, the one that would make more difference then the other, so im going RAM, it takes me so long to load maps characters etc, and Im sure thats what RAM helps

SDRAM stands for synchronous dynamic RAM. DDR stands for double date rate.

Now that the glossary lesson is over, I'd suggest upgrading your RAM first. Your whole computer would benefit from it more, 128 just isn't enough.

If you have DDR SDRAM it sounds like a laptop...In that case you CAN'T upgrade the video card, unless you spent alot more on your laptop than it appears. If it is a desktop w/o knowing what exactly your video card is...Although it can't be THAT great...I'd upgrade the RAM

                        Nah not a laptop..

Just one more question, when I ask to buy RAM, do I ask for DDR or SD?

It depends on what your motherboard supports. If it supports both then DDR. But make sure you get the right speed DDR. They range from 1700-3200. Like my MoBo that's a little over a year old uses PC2100 DDR memory.

128 RAM is NOT ok. I'd upgrade RAM before I'd update my videocard.
