  • 1.8GHz Fast Enough for FFXI?

Well im about to buy a new processor and there is and AMD at 1.8 Ghz for a nice price, but before i bought it i wanted to know if it would be enough to run FFXI almost 'lagless'(i have a cable connection, but your processor does stuff with how things or run such as when many spells are being cast at once, making it seem like lag, or at least that what i thought). If that is the case ill have to up it, could anyone help me out here. Many Thanks.

i've been using a P4-M(mobile, in a laptop) that is 1.8ghz and it runs fine, i'm sure a desktop 1.8ghz will too, that's what i'm building in my new box

"i wanted to know if it would be enough to run FFXI almost 'lagless'"

No. There will be lag. I'm on a 1.8 proc and it mainly happens in a city, even with clipping way down, when 10 or so other players are by the auction house or something.

More system ram won't help that issue, FFXI will only merrily cause 350 meg of system ram to be used. That is TOTAL, for everything running if you just are running FFXI in xp pro. My last playing session I used a max of 329 meg of system ram out of 768 meg total. Meanwhile, anarchy online would often use as high as 698 meg of system ram total, system wide.

So I'm guessing with this game a lot of it is proc power/front side bus, possibly ram SPEED and of course graphics card power.

Even if you run it on low settings?

I find that hard the believe
