I am buying my 1st comp (yay) its low end but i was wondering if you guys can let me know if I can run FFXI on my comp.
900mhz duron
256megs ram
intergrated audio and video (thats the prob )
anyways do I have to buy an pci video card??
or will it run albiet not very well.

Depending on your intergrated graphics, but id assume you'd have to buy a new Graphics Card.

You are scraping in on the bare minimum, and you cant do the benchmark because then you'd have to buy it. Id assume you'd be ok with a new card on the lowest settings.

Hmmmm......is the graphics card the same thing as a video card?
sorry im still learning.I was gonna boost my ram up to 512 in the hopes that it will boost my score, I may even go buy an PCI video card 128mb (ive seen some cheap ones latley) anyways just looking for some advice

Video Cards = Graphics Cards

PCI Cards are meant to be inferior to APG, then again, if you dont have the slot, you are going to be forced to buy a PCI card.

Oh and the thing with ram is, its cheap as hell if your buying SD(there are 3 types, SD, DDR, RD, DDR is the norm with new computers these days, I of course, have the truely ultimate RD =D, Ill assume you're buying SD) so you could buy an absolute truckload of ram for the price a bag of chips.

As for boosting the score, it will help FFXI run alot better, but it wont boost the benchmark, which is totally CPU / Video Card dependant

thanx! I guess I will max out the RAM 1st (it is SD btw) then I will buy a 128mb video card I should be able to get one at a good price. thanx for the help!
