    HELP!!!

My current system specs for this game are:
    **Pentium 4 2.0GHz
**NVidia GeForce FX 5200 128 MB DDR
    **supports Pixel/Vertex shaders 2.0
    **512 MB DDR RAM

    Now...here's my question...

WHY DOES FFXI RUN LIKE ASS ON HI-RES?! The texturing isn't that good...there is NO bump mapping at all...it's choppy...and takes forever to load sometimes...

I have disabled everything I don't need to have running...and I have the current drivers/directx... My friend has the exact card as me...and he has no problems running it on hi-res...

    SOMEONE HELP ME!!!!!!!

willmate + fx card = crappy comp for games

your fx card is pathetic, it's worse than my ti 4200 with only 64mb ram, go ahead and check the benches, specially dx9 benches, which a ti 4200 can bearly run at 25 fps on mid res (it does get hindered a lot by taking a roundabout way to display some things with dx9 made speedy), but the fx 5200 can't even run that bench at all.

live with it, or get a new video card.

yup yup its your Proc (wait do williemetes even come in 2ghz?) But lemme guess you bought your FX at wally world.... tsk tsk tsk.
You could change some settings in the Display properties. (If you dont know how, oii, if you dont know how do some research its not hard to find). Change the AAS and the Texture FIltering. Things like that.

I FIXED MY COMPUTER TO PLAY IT PERFECT!!!

        Solution:

        1) Boot that shitty ass GeForce FX 5200...

        2) Buy an ATI Radeon 9600XT

        Results:

        ME HAPPY!!!!!!!!!! YAYAY!!!

        both are Hi-Res
GEFORCE FX BENCHMARK SCORE (with tweaking) = 1900 MAX
RADEON BENCHMARK SCORE (default) = 3500
