Hey i was wondering badrock kept telling me to get the Geforce FX 5600 ive called about a bazillion stores and they all say they only got the 5200 now im wondering is it that big of a difference?

geforce FX 5200 is like the MX version of geforce2 mx & geforce4mx, its a strip down version of geforcefx 5600, you can actually check the info for the card in Nvidia.com

I'm also looking for a new video card. Is the GeForce FX 5200 a good video card though? This will be my first video card purchase, so I really have no idea what I'm looking for.

NO! dont buy fx 5200 , if u have the cash just buy 5600 ..believe me 5600 is alot better than 5200, let me give u the link for whats different for 5600 & 5200 ..

well they are not showing the 5600 but 5700, anyway just look at the 5200 compare to the others .. they have different features for 5200 compare to the other series ...

The Radeon 9600 Pro is a solid choice.

I haven't seen any of the new GeForces in action but I will testify Radeons will play FFXI without a hitch.

Order one at newegg.com for $150...better 2D quality compared to GeForce. I'm pretty certain it can wipe the wind out of the Geforce 5600FX also in 3D.

i'm sure the 5600XT will run ffxi perfect, i mean, it's better than how it runs on my laptop! I'll buy a new vid card when like 512mb is the standard

nvidia was caught sheating if u have drict x 9 if it thinks it will run direct x 8 anyways the fx series is a joke their hardware does not support direct x 9 u want something that kills the fx series except for the 5900 ultra get a radeon 9600 the best of the 9600's are xt's anyways ati is a ahead of nvidia by farrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

and your not even taken into acount the 9800 pro or 9800 xt...

it get's crazy if you have the money...

like i've said before tho don't put a radeon 9800 xt in a system unless you know what your doing and build it right...
puttin all your money into the 3d card IS NOT a fix

guys guys dont make this another NVIDIA vs ATI war ...we know 9800xt is good the price is also more expensive than the 5950 , now this guy here is going for 5200 that means his not in a high budget, so i suggest him to get the 5600 instead...

screw the 5600, I went with the Geforce FX 5700 ultra. Beat the 9600 pro in most benchmark tests ( not by much though ).

Has a GPU of 475 mhz
                            and memory at 900 mhz

It's a great card, I originally had the 9600 pro and returned it after reading reviews on the 5700 ultra. Granted the 5700 ultra doesnt blow the doors off the 9600, but I liked it a bit more. If I had the money though... my vid card of choice would be the ATI 9800 XT- thats a video card ^_^

l@l it beats the 9600 series in benchmarks because in the drivers it has a program that tells the benchmark program it's results before the benchmark program can't check it out also u may have direct x 9 but this ani't direct x 9 hard ware it's a joke and it will run direct x 8 even thouh u hav direct x 9 the 9600 serise is cheeper and better by the was the gpu has a lil faster speed but the speed of the gpu don't matter when the actual graphics chipset is crap=crapeir graphics faster the 9600 serise =lil slower but awsome graphis and this is still cheaper and is faster better the the rest of the 9600 serise or the fx serise up to the 5800 the 9600x | THE BOTTEM LINE THE FX SERISE IS A JOKE!!!! rolleyes:
