  • Crashing during games...

    Hey sup?

Well I finally got my new computer and I set it all up last night and I loaded XP Home *Yuck I know, Pro in less than a week..* and that's it.

I then installed my drivers for my Graphix card and then a DVD Player/viewer.

Here'se the specs of my computer:

    AMD 2600XP 2.08mhz
    40GB HD
    MSI k7n2 DELTA L Motherboard 8x
    512MB PC2700 DDR333
    ATI Radeon 9200SEC 128mb

So anyways, this place that built it said it's made for gaming purposes *yes I know the graphics card is shit, I plan on gettin the 9800 Pro 256mb with my next pay check*

So anyways, I bought Halo last night, and installed it. 10 minutes into the game the PC tunrs off and boots back up...

Okay, so I play Halo again, this time evn sooner, crashes again.

This happesn about 5 more times then one time after restarting I click the Halo icon again like normal and I get a window saying "Halo was not closed properly" and some information that I have forgotten, anyways, it asks me if I want to run Halo in safe mode to prevent further problems.

So I do, and the game runs great. Problem is, it rarely gives me the option to run the gam ein safe mode. I have to keep playin the game for about 10x in order for it to finally give me the god damn option to run it in safe mode.

Now this just pisses me off beyond belief. Ya know? I go out and spend 700$ for thsi computer then buy the game and all the other accesories, and this is the result?

It just pisses me off and I know I must have done something wrong, or havent done something yet, or maybe I'm simply overlooking something.

But if any of you could take the time to help me out, and figure out what this problem is, it'd be really great.

    Thanks for everything.

hmm 700 is way too much for your comp i couldve built a better one for 400 less the monitor... but aside from that... Don't buy the 256 meg version its a waste of money, that much ram will slow the GPU (processor on the Vid Card). Plus not even HL2 will use that much vid ram..

Ok now that, that has been said... have no clue what the 9200 could do, but i know its too low for Halo... but what you could try is going to Display Properties>Settings>Advanced>troubleshoot>

then turn down the acceleration down a notch... or keep turning it down till it either doesnt run or does... thats what i had to do to keep the game running on my dads comp. You should probobly check to see if you have DX9 installed.. if so, then check to see if you have any pixel shading enabled, if you do disable it. 9200 cant do pixel shading... even though you should not be able to see the option if you dont have it.
