I bought a Video card that requires a minimum of a 300watt power supply unit. After doing some research on my computer I found out that i only have a 750mhz processor and a 200 watt power supply, so I'm planning to invest in a bigger power supply. I was thinking of purchasing a 500watt power supply to handle this and any future upgrades. Will this much power cause more problems for my computer?

Re: Power Supply Question
Naw, there's no danger in getting too big a power supply... they don't always put out their maximum output; only as much as is needed.Originally posted by TruthInVision

I won't tell you to go against the min requirements for the card, but when I first bought my Geforce Ti4400 it said it required a 350watt power supply -- but my 200watt psu handled it just fine. From what most of my friends were saying, that happens a lot. I ran the card just fine for a year and half with no problems.
500watt seems high to me... asus recommends a 350 or 400 for a decked-out system. What's the price difference? I just got a 400 watt psu and couldn't fill up every slot in the case and use more than that!
