    Direct X 9 help

    I have a Ti4200 128 meg which supports Direct X 8. Is there any advantage to upgrading to Direct X 9? Or even any harm in doing so? Some of the new games support Direct X 9 and I want to be able to run them with Direct X 9 if possible. Thanks for your advice.

    there are no negative side effects i know of, and the improvements are infinatly small if any. unless you have a radeon 9600+

      I have the same card (ti4200 128mb ddr ram) and I'm on direct x9. nothing different, except some games don't work. No biggie though, since vice city works haha.

        Does that mean the ATI 9600 would be a lot better than the Ti 4200 for FFXI, because it takes advantage of Direct X 9? I don't know a lot about computers and I'm kinda torn between those two cards...

          If the 9600 supports Direct X 9 than I'd pick it over the Ti4200.
