Ok, I bought a motherboard like you said aer0, one with a nforce2 ultra 400mhz fsb and dual channel. I didnt want to reformat my current hd yet so i formated a diff drive and installed xp on it. I then backed up some of my stuff on cd's and turned the comp back off. I took the smaller hd out and reset the 40gb to master and tried to turn the pc back on. Now it is having problems. Neither of my cd roms are wanting to work. I cant get either of them to install xp on to the 40gb hd. It just says, "Setup is scanning the system configuration." I figured what ever, so I let it run. I came back 2 hours later from my college class and its still on the same screen froze.. I tried several times with both cd roms, same thing every time...
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

did you install xp on the second drive when it was the slave, or just didn't install at all?

if you have major problems, think DOS, install drivers (im guessing that is very hard) then install win xp.
