No, that would be because you have the msBlaster worm. go into your running programs (if your running xp, hit ctrl alt del) and see if something called msblast is running, if it is, kill it, then search for msblast and delete the 2 files it finds, then empty your recycling bin. Finaly, get the security update from www.windowsupdate.com (follow the instructions).
Also, get all the reccomeneded updates from there also.-Baka Inu!

Yep, its still going around, most of it's on private networks. (I help a few people manage internet for apartments). And It's hit us hard. About 7-8 people brought it in (APartments for students). Boy... did it suck.-Baka Inu!

Try working for the DaimlerChrysler helpdesk, like me, when it hit. Also know someone that works for EDS company and it brought down their network, LOL. I still chickle at that one.

Hmmm.... interesting, now...I didnt get the blaster worm virus (thank god) but is it possible that the blasterworm virus had done something to the hardware of the comuter, im thinking the motherboard or (if possible) the power case becuase I believe those control the restarting and shutting down. Either that or there is something wrong with the OS. Your best bet is to contact techncal support over at microsoft or your computer manufacteror ir someone doesnt give you an answer sooner or later because FFXI comeout in less then a MONTH!!!!!!Luffy--So which swords are yours? I didn't know, so I brought all three.....
Zoro--They're all mine. I practice Santoryu three sword style.
Luffy--If you fight the navy with me here and now, in the eyes of the government, you'll be one of the bad guys!
Zoro-- Of course, you could obey the law...and let them kill you!
Zoro--You must be demon spawn...but I'm not ready to die without a fight! All right, dammit! YOUVE GOT YOURSELF A PIRATE!!!

Well contact Microsoft if you guys want...I'm currently VERY pissed at them. On my first message to them EVER I know am getting a constant string of viruses sent to the email address I revieled to them. I'm getting about 40 messages a day claiming to be Microsoft Updates, 3 of which I scanned were the Swen virus and about 4 of the other one was Gibe (The rest I just deleted cause it just seemed rediculous to go threw).
The thing that's very suspicious about this to me is it happened the very DAY after I sent that message to them. My other email accounts still have not recieved anything of viruses so far.
If you're on Windows XP, then I'm betting it's the OS. A problem that has happened to two of my computers after their last update. For both it was the same thing the NTFS.sys file suddenly became corrupted, it caused the system to keep restarting just after the boot loader handed control over to the os loader. Sucks cause that means a simple boot disk won't get you in cause an ordinary boot disk still hands control over to the os loader and you just go threw the same thing.
Try using the Recovery Console and copy over the NTFS.sys file from the Windows XP CD under the i386 folder. On my second computer it would not even let me get into the Recovery Console to do this, I had to actually transfer the HD to another computer running it as slave then copy over what I needed to copy to get it to work..

did you try any of aerobahn's fixups?
you may have lost stability for several reasons, but shutting down services is useally the most common one..
and jinzo, STOP OVERREACTING
windows has a repair install if it is an os problem

Yeah the repair install will work too. Unless it's like what happened to my second computer. Even the repair install crashed once it tried to load the NTFS.SYS. The only two options I could see at that point was to either reformat the drive and install Windows XP from scratch or gain access to the HD from a different source, such as hooking it up to an alternate computer.

1) Latest Bios. YOU MUST DO THIS!
2)At 3pm EST the new catalyst drivers 3.8 will be out d/l them. Also make sure you have the latest sound drivers. Also try taking out your sound all together to see if there is any difference.
3)Power supply which is usually 60% of rebooting issues. Your PSU could be stressed out, Or could be "browning out" meaning not enough power to feed though out your system.
4) PSU heat, If your PSU overheats then your in big big trouble. VERY hard to find a fix for this. Buy a better PSU.
5) Just a plain old crappy PSU that after 1 to 10 months of useage is showing its sign of crappyness. Buy a new PSU.
6) CPU overheating. SUPER DUPER common problem. Companys like DELL Use a cheep theremal Pad or tape. which in turn is a horrible conductor of heat, more of an insulator
Take off you Heatsink. And you should see some type of hard GOOP. SCRUB it off. Buy some thermal paste. i recommend AS3 (arctic silver 3) but any should do.
When applying make sure none of the old PAD or tape is on your CPU die or Heatsink. Apply a rice sized ammount and make a REALLY thin coating. Make sure not to get any paste on the CPU itself for safty reasons, Only the CPU DIE!. Put Heatsink on carefully and your done.
7) HDD heat. One other HUGE heat problem. Buy a $10 hdd cooler. Also heat kills your HDD 2x faster this will lessen the stress making your HDD last longer
I know alot of these fixes involve reducing heat. But thats a big problem. And dont say that it cannot happen to you.
8)Make sure your room is not over 100F lol.
9)One way to check is to disable ACPI in windows xp That has solved rebooting problems before and even increase scores for some people. I dont recommend it unless you know what your doing...but its worth a try.
10)IRQ setting WINXP often will make things share IRQs out of stablity. But sharing Irqs can cause reebooting issues. DID you know you can gain a 10% increase in Graphics card preformence by giveing your card a clean IRQ by itself? *DOES NOT WORK FOR EVERYONE.
Heres what it should look like.... or CAN look like depending on your system.
11) Try a fresh reinstall sould be a software issue. I dont agree with that but People have told me they sloved Rebooting issues with a fresh Install..
12) doesn't work? this one always works Pull out blunt and smoke fears away ahhhh
