the 9600pro 128mb is cheaper and better then the 5600.
Most games can't take advantage of the 256mb of on board mem yet so its kinda pointless right now. But the price on that card is kinda high, where did u see that price? www.newegg.com has it for 177$.Race : Mithra

gfx... the worst set of cards made by nvidia. the ti 4200 was the last good card made by nvidia. the last awsom card was the tnt2. ati will now rule as king if nvidia doesn't try to fix itself.

I would choose the Radeon 9600 Pro.... Since I have it!
Check out www.tomshardware.com for some info on a good card. You don't have to take the best one, but someone at the top is good enough.
I use the Radeon 9600 Pro myself... Oh yeah.. Guess what.. You can OC the cpu on the card from 400MHz up to over 550MHz. Radeon cards are great that way.

I use and love my Radeon 9600Pro. I was curious if anyone could tell me the OCing differance the card experiences when it's in a dual-monitor setup versus running just one...
I found that my 2D scores dropped a bit, while, oddly, my 3D scores actually improved the slightest bit (while using a dual-monitor setup). I wonder if you were using just one monitor, your scores &/or OCing max would change depending on whether you were using the CRT slot, or the digital one with an adapter. any thoughts?

You get full merit for thinking future proof...but haveing 256mb now is a waste. By the time a 256 mb card becomes effective the 9600pro will be done. As is the 9600pro cannot be effective with 256mb, due to memory bandwidth, lack of pipes, and core clock speeds.Originally posted by Inferno_Sight

this is the same reason why rdram is suck to a 533mh bus, any higher is a waste of space. i have 800mh rd, it goes at about >4gb/s, and my bus is limited to 4.8gb/s... i hope i got the numbers right..Originally posted by aerobahn

go pro, the np is a stripped down version that is very bad.... i believe that the 9500pro is better than 9600np, but you need aerobahn to say if that is right..Originally posted by jamual111
