Updating and Optimizing

Ya, im pretty good with computers and all but I was wondering if there are many special thigns I can do to improve it. The only thing I used to update my pc is Window Update. My system specs are as follows:

Windows XP Home Edition Ver: 2002 Service Pack 1
Intel Pentium(R) 4 with SSE2
CPU 2.00ghz
256mb of RAM
GeForce 4 MX 440 Bus: AGP 4x Mem: 128mb BIOS: 4.17.00.55.40
DirextX 9.0

If theres anything I can do to improve my systems proformence please tell me. lol Don't make it so i wrote all of it out for nothing.

This is BS all these guides are useless. I try to do what it says but then I get to a part thats impossible to figure out. Come on cant anyone help me out. I jus want to update everything on my PC. Like updates that windows update doesnt provide.

Defrag your hdd over night (so you don't uyse it while it defrags)

I already defrah my pc and it doesnty need defraged at the moment
