He will be supplying his own moniter speakers cables keyboard mouse etc. And props to ganhosi for inspiring him to build his own computer with your powerful cost efficent setup.

Am I missing anything? I know the video card could be cheaper and is the 9600 pro "better" than the 9500 pro?

Edit: I should mention that he wants to keep this a bit below $1000

for an extra 60 bucks, you can get the 128mb 9800np. im worried that the fans will be a bit loud though. aerobahn, is this the case?

fans? in his case or on his graphics card?lol
IF its his case then he could buy a fan controler and lower the RPMs of the fan. If its the gpu the fan will spin the same.

I would go against the soundblaster live. Its qulity is next to horrible. go for an audigy1 or 2 or stick with onboard.

other than that it looks fine to me.

The 9600pro is a better choice due to its great overclocking ability and better dx9.0 support than the 9500pro. or get the 9800np.

the case fans... isn't 30db a bit much? i think that 12 db is a wisper at 2 feet, so 30bd would be like talking across a room right?

a cheap but good 5.1 card other than audigy series is the turtle beach santa cruz 5.1 sound card. so many notes, vocies, the equalizer is top notch, and it has virtual 5.1 for those without true 5.1 speakers. in counterstrike, i hear guys behind me, even though i only have the speakers in front of me.

I'm more worried about the mobo. it's $69. Is that just a good deal or an inferrior product?

should do fine, as long as the onboard sound is turned off. you could always get a mother board from a reputable dealer and exchange price for security. you must take a chance, or pay a bit more (i think 70 for a motherboard is on the cheap side, but even at retail stores like best buy, they are 150 for intel boards)

just check up with aerobahn to get the second opinion

is it true that your monitor has to be recent and good enough for your gfx card?

no, the monitor has almost nothing to do with a graphics card. if you want high visible fps, a better monitor will help. monitors should have at least 75hz refresh. if you use lcd monitors, it should have 75hz(higher=better) and 25ms(lower=better) response time.

second thought about the motherboard. get one with usb2.0 and firewire built in for best results.

I see no reason to get firewire, I mean he is basically going to use this for games only, perhaps the occasional school essay. The mobo has usb 2.0 btw.(according to shuttle)
