    windows ME has been known to eat up memory due to memory leaks. And those are present from the start. Windows xp can if default services and such are on take up to 100 megabytes of ram. And Xp is horrible at cleaning out useless memory. There are registry settings that can get rid of this...

      sorry bout this question but i was going to buy a dell dimension 4600 i think thats what it is and just wanted to know if it was good. here are the specs when i customize that crap.

      2.8ghz 533 mhz front side bus
      1gb dual channel ddr sdram at 333 mhz
      ati radeon 9800 not the pro 128mb
      120gb harddrive

      I think thats it

        How much you paying for it?

        Could you afford the one with 800mhz bus

        and

        400mhz ram???? you'll like that one much better

          Heh i don't know my mom is paying for it but shes going with dell's monthly pay plan thing. The good thing is theres a special on a dell dimension 8300 free upgrade to a 512 dual chanel 400 mhz i am show and yea here are the new specs or same.

          Dell Dimension 8300
          2.8ghz frontside bus is 800mhz
          ram up there
          memory 120 or just 80
          ati radeon 9800 and its for only i think 1,700 or little higher
          too expensive who knows lol

              aerobahn, that is basically your comp-motherboard -water cooling.... it's a good comp though, that'll beat the crap out of mine...

              aerobahn, how do you do that ram clearing trick for xp? just pm me or post it here.
