Quick answer will be no. Virtual PC is not made for running heavy duty 3D applications, its more for running document type applications. If you can get it to run at all on VPC, it is going to be super buggy, and keep crashing your computer.

Running Virtual PC on a G5? That's quite a miracle given what everyone has reported thus far on the subject. I'll assume that this is more of a hypothetical question.

Now, as the owner of a dual G4 computer, I too wondered if I could run FFXI with Virtual PC so I checked up on it. Turns out that no matter how beefy your video card is, Virtual PC only gives Windows 16 MB of video RAM which isn't enough to run FFXI.

And yes, like Hetfield says above, Virtual PC isn't really for games.

mac? macs are only good for sound and video editing. anything else is meant for the good old x89 pc's

Let's not get into the PC vs Mac flame wars. It's almost as bad as racial conflicts on the internet these days.

And to answer the question. Not likely.

I won't outright say NO because I don't know how square programed their graphics backend.

Firstly, you can't run Virtual PC on a G5. Both technical and that Microsoft(yes, microsoft brought VPC from connectix) has no plans to change that.

Second, VPC lost any abilty to use graphics(3d) from hardware since VPC4.

Without the ability to render from hardware, most games give out an error, cannot find 3d hardware BS.

It depends how square interpets the calls from DirectX, and even attempts to use software rendering.

Thirdly, there is a well known glitch with games because they tend to take over the computer, and VPC has a problem with that, with the MAC->PC mouse over. So you won't be able to move. It takes a bit of fixing and luck here.

OF course I don't need to mention that speed will suck to the point of death.

Even with all that, you could be crazy enough to try(not with a G5 though) and suceed. I played Everquest(PC) on my mac hehehe.
