  • Damn Sound! Someone Help, My Sound Adjustment Is Gone For My Toolbar

Ok the thing that happend to me today was, i was just starting up my computer and it said "Found new hardware" i was like ...wtf?
so it loads up, only to find out i have no sound on FFXI or any other game, so i go to my toolbar to up the sound (to see if i happen to mute it) ...its not there, WTF, so i go to my control pannel and i click on sound...its at the lowest setting, and its grayed out, and when i get a pop up box, my computer makes a beep sound (not from the speakers, from the cpu)
so i cant adjust anything in my control pannel, and the only thing i get sound with is windows media player, HELP!

Un-Install them first, and then Re-install them with the newest ones from the companys site. This will make sure that you have the most compatibilty with games and so on. BTW, did you have a BSoD lately? or a power surge? these might have affted the drivers and/or memory loss.

Right Click on My Computer --> Properties --> Hardware tab --> Device Manager --> Sound, video and game controllers\

This is for Windows XP, it will tell you what kind of drivers you have, usually it will say the companys name iin the drivers somewhere.

If that fails, open the case and look

that is also the same for win 98-2000. you should always understand what you are getting, or else it will cause you unexpected problems. i actually think that may be a dx problem though, specially if it's just intro(or the nvidia driver if you have that, it's been known to do that).

If your still having trouble use the windows default drivers. When using a "sound blaster live" alot of people have sound problems. this seems to be fixed by only using the default windows driver. worth a try.

if you use automatic updating, that driver would have been automatiaclly installed as soon as it's needed. enjoy your game now that you are no longer deaf
