Why the 5900Ultra 256MB IS DEAD!

for the GFX line of cards are DEAD!

I remember a while back some people said that the 5900 was fast. Well it is FAST, It really fast. When playing some DX8.1 games...

I also remember saying that the 5900 would be killed in DX9.0 games due to the fact that in order to stay competitive they needed pure speed, so they killed off image quality for frame rates. FINE some people do not care about IQ. Then there was all the drivers cheating. Fine everyone makes mistakes. Then they started pissing on the Hardcore overclockers and people who take their cards to the limit, by sueing third party driver and bios makers.

All this for the GFX series. Well like i said befor when the dx9.0 games come out that the end of their current line of Gcards...

Half-life 2 Is comming out and all the GFX5900 owners will be greatly pissed. In HL2 in order to run they will have Pre-reduced graphics to get playable frame rates. Or they can have the default graphics with sluggish Frame rates. The developers said that due to VERY poor shaders that they had trouble making the game work right on the GFX line of cards.

Thats it they Die....

But wait what if i dont like HL2 Maby..... I want DOOM III?

LOL John Carmack has stated that the GFX line of cards currently run DOOMIII on a tuned down 16BIT code path(that would be reduced color quality). They could run the same path as the RADEON (there is an option for it IN GAME) but it would be 2 slugish.

What? Look this was a rant against Nvidia. Not Nvidia owners. Yes they are effected because they bought their lame product but that besides the point. NVIDIA will now have to go back to there “good” business practices or just turn into another 3DFX

Also there were some Nvidiots who were “PM spamming” me because they thought their card would rock on HL2….

lol as most of you who show up in the computer forums regularly know, im a pretty hardcore nvidia fan heh. but like i've always said, im not stubborn about it.. it's personal preference and i think i can say they're better cards than ati's... yadda yadda that's not for this thread and i dont wanna keep arguing about that heh..

point is, im not a stubborn guy. this is the first i've heard of this, and it does look extremely factual. ill do my own research and check it out, see what nvidia is doing about it, etc. and for my new computer coming in november (ooh i hate to say this) so far i might end up with a 9800 pro :sweat: i cant see nvidia not responding to this though, and just allowing ati to take everything. people might not be too into FPS games like HL2 and Doom3, but if this is the new technology, then it is extremely likely that other games will use similar engines and formats as these two games. i hope nvidia does something so i can remain a good customer, but hey, i gotta do what i gotta do.

im not getting a new card for my system unless it runs on 250w power source... my next comp after that will be a laptop, so no upgrades there.... and by the time i get out of college i doubt nvidia, ati, or even microsoft will exist.

intel 450e (or 450 don't know which) motherboard
and a cool looking 17" lcd monitor with 40fps max :sweat:
i also have 4 usb 1.1 (2 in front), 4 usb 2, two ieee1394 ports, and a wireless linksys network card with 11mbs capability (128bit wep code)
can i get a 9800 at all?

guess ill have to either get a job like rico's at some nearby mall (ill also have to learn which bus to take, and that will cost me $3-5 each day), or work at a supermarket, home improvement store (one is a gardenning thing, the other is a true values), or as a tutor for the intelectually challenged kids of my town. what do you think i would make the most money with including traveling expenses ?(i have no car, i have to wait another year after i get my learner's permit this year til i can drive.....)

then i can make myself a +10000 benchmark comp
ill get a 3.2 processor (overclock it to 4 or more )
1-2gigs ddr pc 4000 ram (depends on the money i can get for birthday+christmas+good grades)
newest ati graphics card (overclocked of course, if no other ati card is out and <$400, ide get 9800pro)
water cooling (if you can tell me a good cheap effective place aerobahn)

ill keep my monitor, or the other monitor i have from the old archaic comp (it's the same p990 fd trinitron monitor that costs $500 and just owns everything , it's 5 years old at least though )
ill most likely also get an audigy 2 for the 5.1 digital and the ieee1394 it has.
