      Would be interesting to see.

I do feel like they are using us to test FFXIV gear system as well with this new update.

But, I don't doubt that it will be like FoV Augmenting. Where the drop is completly random, and could have some minus effects as well.

I highly doubt that it wont cost any money either to put the item on the equip. Will just have to wait and see.

Very interesting indeed. I assume the Mighty Strikes -1 is -1 minute off the timer, 1 second off a 2 hour ability is hardly worth even mentioning, let alone slotting.

WOO I so called this idk how long ago >.>

Nice to see SE is taking another cue from Blizzard with respects to something they got right; socketing. It's not totally crafted in the sense I'd proposed (the evolith is farmed and the augments are added by synthing where I'd proposed the opposite) but it's still kick ass!

I'm betting that MS Ability Delay -1 means just that; MS's recast is lowered. That's damn sexy depending on just how much that -1 turns out to be. I'm a little disappointed though that we won't see this during the Nov 9 update, but towards the end of the month. I wanna play with this shit now!

Oh well, I guess we know what those new .DAT files are for now however. I'm betting the majority of those weapons & armor sets will be totally blank, but also have plenty of room for augmenting with Evolith. Right now I'm most curious to see if we can use Evolith on any NM drops or things like AF/Relic (I very much doubt it but you never know.)

EDIT: Okay I read it again and it says "Mighty Strikes: Ability Delay -1." And so this is where all those years of playing MTG, paying close attention to rules & text pays off; This is not -1 to MS delay, this is -1 to ALL ABILITIES' recast timers when MS is active. Not bad.

Except that would be totally useless because any decent War would be popping the JAs before popping MS. Chances are these effects only take place when you activate the JA, so you would need to pop MS then use your other JAs which would eat up precious seconds of MS attack time.

Of course, to me the big question is whether all evoliths will be "positive", or if you'll sometimes get "duds" -- like say, Dark elemental enfeebling magic: Enmity+2...

OTOH, I'm not counting on total control of slots you can carve, not after the augmentation letdown. If I'm wrong, though, my precious Wivre Shield may yet get the loving care I promised it... Maybe even Light elemental healing magic: Conserve MP+3?

There are already other forms of augmentation in the game, this form of augmentation falls under its own terms.

Add-on end rewards let you choose the augmentations
FoV augments are seemingly random, as are various add-on rewards you can quest for and re-quest again.

The fact that there's a whole new manual seems to suggest this isn't even tied to FoV. Adding more ways to spend tabs at this point would be like adding more ways to burn assault points and Assault ID tags. I like to keep my FoV tabs for easy trips home, reraise and little else.

You call that a dud? Blind and Dispel happen to be wonderful sources of enmity already, thank you very much, and that would just make them better!

That is a good question. Not that it's worth caring about, since there is absolutely no reason to use the old FoV augment system any more (you want to talk about "duds"? . . .). Bye-bye "elite training regimes," hello they way the augment system should have been in the first place.

Then again, considering that this is S-E, I'm sure they'll find a way to make it suck somehow. Ah, well, at least it shows that they listened to complaints about the previous augment system, as in, we will not be gambling away our pieces of equipment anymore. And furthermore, the augments are freaking removable, only downside being that you'll lose your old Evoliths, which is much more reasonable compared to potentially losing a body piece valued in the hundreds of thousands, if not millions, to the winds. Oh, and you can remove the slots entirely, as well, and sell your item back to the AH, anyway.

I had thought of only one piece of equipment that would have been prime fodder for the FoV system, the Hexrei cape, but now that S-E is offering customization on a level immediately below what is offered for the add-on equipment (we would still have to farm the Evoliths, which is still nowhere near as bad as throwing Haubergeons away) for some of the regular everyday stuff we may already use, without even having to gamble it, I wouldn't consider using the FoV system even for that. Come on "Enfeebling Magic: Magic Accuracy +Awesome," big bonuses, no whammy!

You know what would be a *really* nice surprise? If the augment removing guy could remove *all* augments, including FoV and add-on accessory augments that aren't so good. Maybe even recycling fey weapons to their raw (and AHable) state too.

People that already threw away or NPC'd their badly augmented stuff might whine at first, but the effect going forward would be awesome. Including being able to augment stuff you're only going to use for a while, because you could recycle it afterwards, and being able to augment expensive stuff without risking converting it into something gimped and unsellable.

It would stop FoV augmenting from becoming a sink for durable gear, but it's not actually doing that anyway because nobody uses it, the results are too random. Giving players a chance to reroll *without* buying another of the base gear could revive that augment system at the same time they're also adding a new one (whether or not they can also be stacked).

Almost regardless of the details of the system, the bottom line will be that players get stronger again, even if only slightly, and monsters stay where they are. Player power creep is becoming a more and more serious problem over time and it's past time SE did something about it if they don't want exp and older content becoming even more of a joke than it already is.

I think that they are actually trying to make it "Easier" to solo for everyone rather than having so only a select few jobs can solo.

I like that they added a bunch of stuff to make it easier and faster, and a way to make money as you level, but the down fall is that there are less people willing to actually party as well. But it helps those who dont have an hour to look for party members, then spend 2-3 hours in a party all day to gain 1-2 lvls.

The 2-hander changes, the multiple job buffs, the increasing selection of DD armor and weapons and the introduction of marinara pizza have caused a massive power advantage on the player side.

Like hell. A party is always better EXP.

Yeah, its totally awesome that BLM, BST and PUP now get their camps taken away, but still treated like they want to solo all the time. SE did those three jobs a major disservice in the implementation of FoV. Were it not for dungeons and CoP/ToA/WotG expansion zones, we'd have nothing left and still no party invites.

I am so glad mainlands isn't mandatory for me anymore, but I feel bad for people starting out in these jobs because solo is optional for most jobs, but often the only option if these three want to level up at all.

Actually, I for one wish they would extend FoV to dungeons, if nothing else to get the fuck away from East Ronfaure [S] and maybe go back to some of older, less-used camps (hi2u quicksand caves and crawler's nest). That said, yeah, how about showing some PLD BLM BST & PUP love?

Also, power creep my ass. Besieged has become an absolute nightmare on seraph, since we rarely get triple-digit participation even when we have 2-3 level 8's going on simultaneously. The fact is that there is going to be a rather large Exodus of players (myself among them) when XIV comes out, and SE has to take that into account. Simply merging servers likely won't cut it, and is a headache in and of itself for both SE and the community.

When people start soloing Sky Gods & other big NMs with any kind of regular frequency, then I'll admit there's a problem but for the time being that remains a rather expensive and time consuming privilege for a handful of elite players.
