I'd take d.ring in a heartbeat. ~5% drop rate from a mob that pops at absolute most 90 times a year ... probably like 3 drop per server per year. A shell would be lucky to see one at all and if you're not at the front of the line then maybe next year. And that's if I hated myself enough to camp kings.

I didn't notice Defending Ring in there. Ok, if I had one of those I would level PLD if I weren't already PLD.

        Re: Mog Bonanza Imminent! (05/08/2009)

Myself I'd take the items over the gil, with the possible exception of the rank 1 prize. Assuming the rank 1 prize averaged out to 100 mil, then that is easily a relic, with currency bought at bazaar prices at that, with some left over. I think I'd much rather have a Gugnir than any of the salvage body pieces, and even if the gil doesn't come out to be enough to fund a relic, it should be able to fund a sizable chunk of the costs.

Rank two on down the gil to item ratio isn't good enough. Some of those items would take alot of time in order to get, and since I'm rather pleased with my gil situation as it currently is, I'd probably want to have the items rather than the gil.

Rank two I dunno, probably either a dynamis piece or else the kitty pants.

Rank three, it'd be either Homam Cosciales, or a Mirage Jubbah.

Rank four, most likely whatever I think will get the best profit, although it'll be worthwhile to double check to see what all the synth items are used for.

What I'd really like is to win the rank three this time. The Homam is a good choice for both my Blu and Drg, or a Mirage Jubbah would be an equally good choice. Rank one would be nice, but I doubt I'm gonna win that one.

But yeah, that's assuming I get the winning marble on my main, if it's my mule, then it's gil all the way since anything else I want would be a rare/ex item.

          Seconded.

I already know that I'm not going to get any more than one prize per rank (but, if the planets align, I could technically get one from all five o_O; ), so my actual prize list hierarchy would be more like:

          Rank 1: Defending Ring
Rank 2: Mog Bonanza Kupon X (Chapeau, duh)
          Rank 3: Nashira Seraweels
Rank 4: Whatever gets me the most gil XD
          Rank 5: Behemoth Statue

It's not that far off, last time I won rank 4 and 5, and was one digit off from winning ranks 2 and 3 as well all on Vyuru.

I'm having that moogle pick my numbers again! :D

I'm not sure what I'd take if I won in rank 2. Gaiters maybe. Hauteclaire obviously from rank 3. More than likely I'll be getting Pest Repellent or nothing though.

                I would pick:

1 - Gil, assuming it is enough to make a serious dent in what I need to get a Mandau. If the gil doesn't come out to a decent ammount, the Skadi's.

2 - Velocious Belt or Kupon X... undecided, if I happen to get my Assassin's Armlets, easy choice.

3 - Kupon B or gil, depending on if I have my Assassin's Culotte or not.

4 - Orichalcum Ingot for my Relic

5 - No idea, probably one of the statues.

                  But thats just my opinion

Even if you found a shell willing to sell one, to buy it you'd still have to be there camping KB with them at all hours for months. That's not much of an improvement. And not just an extra hit, it's 10% less enmity loss anytime you take damage and +300 hp you have remaining after citadel buster, dragon breath and what have you.

And in less serious situations it's a hell of a fun toy that lets me hit the 50% damage reduction cap on rdm.

Level PLD. Take off your shield. Fight a mob. Feel the pain. Realize that a bit under half of that extra pain could be eased with a Defending Ring.

Hell, it covers the magic side of things too, even things where MDB do nothing. That is one damned fine ring.

Not least because a star sapphire is worth more than that anyway.

I wouldn't take Joyeuse as a rank 2 prize even if I didn't already have it, but the same goes for Dynamis pieces IMO - they're just not that hard to get relative to the other stuff - and some people on this thread have already suggested that they might take them.

Leave it to SE to not know what anything is worth in this game.
Or maybe they *do* know, and don't want people to take gil. If they're running low on gilsellers to ban but don't want too much gil to accumulate in the economy, they could remove some via mog bonanza.

In fact, they will definitely remove some; the only way for it to be overall gil neutral is if *every* rank 1, 2, and 3 winner takes gil. But if they offer ex prizes that are better than gil in all of those tiers, then almost all of the gil spent on bonanza marbles will be removed from the game.

In the meantime, the inflow of rank 4 materials will help anyone who wants stuff made out of those materials (dusk, for example).

You DO have a point there, the gil just seems more appealing, but now I dont know for certain what I would choose.........

I would strongly consider the Dynamis gear. I don't have the time to do Dynamis right now so that gear is just as difficult to get for me as 'the other stuff.'

Though it's not like I have to worry about winning but really, the relic pieces are very attractive to me.

Rank 1-3: gil or the highest sellable item.
Rank 4 Moldy and others if main, sellables if not.
Rank 5: Statues on mules, BC items on main.

D.ring is 10% off any damage like the iron ram lance.

Actually, I would consider taking a relic coupon. I stopped doing dynamis after I completed rdm relic and having done it I would never give up that ~7 hours a week of my life again. If I went back it'd pretty much only be for pld or blu body, the former of which has been mercifully replaced by the aCP body. Dedicating that amount of time to an event for only one item would be madness.

I already have a limbus group though and I actually enjoy that event, so there's no way I'd consider taking a nashira or homam piece from the lottery. I guess you could say each prize is .. situational. :3
