Feast of Swords Draws Nigh! (04/24/2009)
Brush off your bamboo swords and gird yourselves for a breathtaking battle royale, as the favored fete of lionhearted young lads everywhere—that exhilarating Far Eastern extravaganza of courage and valor known as the Feast of Swords—is set to make its triumphant return!

What hair-raising hijinks await participants in this year's event? Read on to find out!

*The Feast of Swords will come whirling into town on Tuesday, April 28 at 1:00 a.m. (PDT) and return to its sheath Tuesday, May 12 at the same hour.

Feast of Swords Draws Nigh! (04/24/2009)

The Feast of Swords is almost upon us, and any adventurer worth his or her salt knows what that entails—that heinous band of brigands will once again be upon us in an attempt to snatch the legendary Genji Armor from the hands of its rightful owners!

It is up to you, the stalwart lads and ladies of Vana'diel, to ensure that their dastardly designs will end in vain. Take shinai in hand and vanquish the vermin. You just might win yourself a most rewarding recompense!

    Illustration: Mitsuhiro Arita

How to Partake of the Feast
    1. Firstly, converse with one of the event moogles stationed in the following locations to procure an ibushi shinai:
    Southern San d'Oria (J-9) / Northern San d'Oria (D-8)
    Bastok Mines (I-9) / Bastok Markets (G-8)
    Windurst Waters (F-5) / Windurst Woods (K-10)

    2. Having equipped said ceremonial arm, proceed to have it imbued with a dose of moogle magic by one of the friendly neighborhood M.H.M.U. representatives in the areas below.
    West Ronfaure (I-6) / East Ronfaure (G-6) / La Theine Plateau (J-8) / Jugner Forest (I-8) / Batallia Downs (K-8) / North Gustaberg (L-8) / South Gustaberg (L-8) / Konschtat Highlands (I-6) / Pashhow Marshlands (K-6) / Rolanberry Fields (K-5) / West Sarutabaruta (J-8) / East Sarutabaruta (G-11) / Tahrongi Canyon (I-6) / Meriphataud Mountains (E-5) / Sauromugue Champaign (E-5)

    3. Join forces with your comrades to seek out the armor-thieving brigands and put an end to their vice and villainy! Word has it that successfully fending off your enemies' special attacks with your enchanted shinai will reap you considerable rewards...

    4. When the battle has been won, trade your shinai to the ??? that has appeared in place of your vanquished foe. You just might be awarded a fabled blade for your feats of valor!

Mind The Three Maxims of Moogle Magic
#1: The moogle-magicked hero will be fleet of foot, but feeble of body. (Level will be restricted to 1, but movement speed will be increased in its stead.)
#2: The enchanted blade is to be brandished against brigands alone. (You will not be able to target standard enemies, but neither will they attack you.)
#3: Moogle magic is a fickle mistress, and will abandon you if you venture too far from the fray. (The enchantment will be lifted if you zone into another area or log out.)

    Event Schedule
The Feast of Swords will come whirling into town on Tuesday, April 28 at 1:00 a.m. (PDT) and return to its sheath Tuesday, May 12 at the same hour.

Have they made it worth doing this year, or is it like every year where I see no point (after having done it the first time).

Well it sounds as if it turns in to an actual GK of some kind when you trade it this time. Maybe they heard there were actual SAMs using the wooden one in Jungle PTs.

I'm not kidding, I had one in my PT when I leveled my SCH. Well, he didn't stay in the PT long.

Still, it could just be you get an HQ, dippy wooden sword. The Festival of Dolls didn't change this year, same stuff as last year.

Exciting for people who haven't done it yet. I mean, it's a fun event. Just when they don't add anything new (though, like you, I'm hoping there may be an actual GKT reward at the end), it doesn't provide much incentive to older players.

Still, woo for armors running around various zones!

I haven't managed to do this one on my current account yet. This and the buffalo thing just always seem to pop up at the most inconvenient times. Should be good this time, though. Wee!

Seriously, you like this? I have never enjoyed this event and I'm sick and tired of it being offered OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER. How about alternating it? Every year...seriously? You know what event I'd like to see come back? That one with the huge treants that we had to smack around.

And explain the significance of the Sams in that picture having heavy armor on every inch of their bodies except their feet??

It helps them run faster and increases agility

Personally, I haven't done this event since the first time it rolled around, but then again I haven't really done any event in a long, long time. Still, for a monthly event it's not all that bad. And with so many new people to the game, it's nice that they get their chances at these things.

Unlike the big four (harvest, winter, summer, easter) these are supposed smaller, simpler events so it makes sense they offer smaller, simpler rewards.

It's, uh... dishonorable to attack someone's feet so it was unnecessary?

Or that's why they're all riled up, they're out to kill whoever stole their shoes.

These might not be good explanations.

Feast of swords and the Toro event are my 2 favorite events, and the only ones I do 100% for fun instead of items.

I with Raydeus, the Feast of Swords and Toro events are my favorite events.

I just wish they made new items for this event, like getting different pieces of the armor (Body, hands, legs) for trading the GK and you can get +1 armor pieces for trading to the Mithra armor's ??? (or as I call her "The Steam Roller of Death") after death.

This event always pisses me off. Because I always die! It's more frustrating to actually do it than to just ignore it completely. Haven't seen/heard of anyone getting anything good from it, and there no cutesy furniture items for me to gain from it, so meh.

I usually love the events - I especially love the new ones - but this one is just annoying.

I dont know if they still let you do it anymore but you could solo one of the armors (execpt the mithra one) since you are WHM. You just buff (stoneskin, protect 5, shell5, regen, etc.) and talk to the moogle to be reduced to level 1. Last time I done this event, the buffs didnt wear off when you were level restricted to level 1 and therefore you could solo one of the armors (execpt the mithra one).

I use to go as BLU/RDM for (Cocoon, Phalanx, Diamondhide, Protect 2, Shell 2, Aquaveil, and Regen)
