Re: Update Details
Oh my god.
I was thinking of getting the WHM one first, for my own reasons which I won't delve into right now, but now after seing that RDM one ... Fuck I can't decide. Guess we'll have to see what drops, but I think eventually I'll just shoot for both.

Re: Update Details
I never fucking said ANYTHING about awesome times. That's putting words in my mouth.
I said I was awesome. I never so much as hinted that you would be able to benefit from the effects of my awesomeness.

Re: Update Details
I'm kind of over people making empty promises of how awesome the times are going to be. I have decided to make my own awesome times.

Re: Update Details
You really should've come to Fenrir.
When I was playing.
Which was before server transfers.
But I'm awesome enough to start a new character for.
especially considering you had started over like three dozen times anyway.

Re: Update Details
I would have come to Cerberus, but I made that mistake last year, and it didn't get me anywhere.

Re: Update Details
I think I see where Feba is going with this... let me relate it to another game I play "Star Pirates", it's a browser based text game. Some, (ok, most), of the weapons you can install on your ship come with a "% malfunction chance", they don't shoot you, they just short out your weapon systems for a round or two. Most of them are low, but you occasionally have one with like +35% malfunction, and the more of them you stack, the higher your percentage chance gets. Why even equip these? Because they stack on things like +38% to weapons or the like. If you have 300 weapons rating, +38% is nice, it's even nicer when you have 4 of those. I might end up with a 60-70% malfunction chance, but if I'm breaking 1000 weapons, it'd be worth it. Because 50% malfunction doesn't mean that it misfires every other attack, it's random still, and streaky. I may end up with three dozen raids in a row where I destroy the other ship on the very first shot. Or I may end up with a few where the first shot always malfunctions and I get them on the next shot. Sometimes, I'll end up with 9 shorts in a row during the same battle and lose. I'm still willing to take that chance, because I can totally destroy most ships with it.
So, how I see that kind of system working with Feba's idea here is this:
1. Summoner pulls out Bahamut, Bahamut has a %5-10 malfunction chance built in. Now, it's not built into when he's summoned, but rather when you use the /pet assault command.
2. Bahamut will otherwise behave like an elemental, with the major difference that he can use his 2hr randomly in that spell mix as well as normal abilities.
3. Summoner uses Bahamut like an elemental, using the assault command whenever he starts casting his pacts just like normal, only the malfunction chance comes in here.
So, let's say you got Bahamut to go out there and use Mega Flare. Cool, I'll hit /pet assault and cue up the next spell. This time you notice he starts moving towards you, now you have until he finishes casting his spell on the mob he was aimed at until he needs to be reaimed at that mob or you're going to take the next one. And that next spell could be darn near anything, maybe it's an ability you know, maybe it's Giga Flare and he's bringing it right to you. The point is that now your position relative to the avatar and the party now really matters, so you'll have to adapt and overcome. You're not going to get killed very often this way, but you will get killed once in awhile. For the amount of damage you're going to lay down, it might be very worth it.
What SE would end up having to do is redefine a new class of pet scripts. Building in this extra chance of aggro to the summoner with the assault command. Perhaps there could even be JSE to reduce this chance, but never below say 1%. There's always at least a bare minimum chance of getting hit. Also, the class isn't limited to Bahamut, because adding this limitation allows you to realistically add in Odin, Pheonix, or Alexander without becoming fantastically powerful. You don't know what they're doing at any given moment, beyond that they won't be doing it to you. Hate is also mitigated by the fact that if Bahamut was attacking a mob, it's still pissed off at Bahamut, not you, at least until it loses hate on him and you're next in line.
