Everything in XI has become either a chore, rife with drama (this is a grand example), or requires more hours than I work in a workday nearly to achieve. It's sucking the life right out of the game for me. Hell, it already did about half a year ago. It's no wonder I like LotR more. I can work my real job and have actual fun with my hobby which is gaming... yeah.

You ever seen the poor guy/girl standing in Jeuno shouting for hours for a Promy? I know you have. And you're telling me that if this change makes it easier for that person and the people coming up to get a group is a bad thing? I don't see how, unless you're all that attached to your special accesses. Idiot players already get through everything. Even without changes they would.

For everyone paranoid about WotG, wait and see, maybe? Stop making such a focal point out of how hard it will or will not be. All we have now is some screenies and a video. If this game, and changes to it, are causing you this much stress, quit. Or step away. It's a game. That's all it is in the end. It might be 5 more years or so, but the servers will go down someday and none of this will mean a thing. I think a few of us could benefit from a little perspective.

For the inevitable 'if you liek it ez-er, then gtfo, n00b' post, trust me, it won't be much longer until I have. Don't even waste the bandwith of the site posting it.

B.P there is nothing hard about the promys outside human error and finding members. We have strats, we know what job combos work, what job combos dont. We know what item to use, an which not to use, We know what time, as well as what order to use them in. We even have maps of all the routes to the fights. Not to mention they already lowered the toughness of it all. All of this wasn't available when i did my first run thru them. I still run members thru the areas. An i have yet to see what is considered so darn hard about it all.

Telera Thats been the way this game has worked since day one. An for that poor kid standing in jeuno asking for promy help. This update wont fix that no mater what. Nobody si gonna drop what there doing, buy gear, items, food, make a party an spend an hour or 2 running thru the promys, Especially not after they did it themselves and absolutely hate it.

Nin75, Bst75. Drk61, War61, Rdm40, All other jobs are 37. All 3 starting city missions completed. All Zilart missions completed. All CoP missions completed. TouA completed.

qft I'm afraid. Promies are unfun, require level cap gear for a cap that pretty much nobody keeps on hand, and require a lot of preparation for practically no reward. The update attempts to fix the last two things, but I don't really think either is going to motivate people who have already been through CoP to help people through promies that they wouldn't have helped anyway before.

Personally I don't really care that they're nerfing promies again. Promies just suck, end of story. When I got to lufaise meadows for the first time it wasn't so much a feeling of accomplishment I had but immense relief to have that behind me. I just wish they'd leave the other CoP BCs alone. I feel they're at an appropriate level of difficulty.

I told you, I don't wanna hear it.

When Holla's Wreaker goes on a rampage spamming Shadow Spread and Trinary Absorption faster than you can keep Poison Potion and cures on, you'll question you iron-clad strategies.

Actually, I'd question the skill level of the individuals utilizing the strategy. Because the fight isn't hard.

People who can't handle FFXI should quit, I agree. I take it you have? Let it be the last of it's kind while WoW and WoW clones(LotR) remain popular with the mainstream.

And the game is still going to be here in 5 years. That's for certain.

I agree, this thread should be closed.

              EDIT:

Have a non-main healer spam Barstona, as a BLM or RDM, that's what I did. Trinary Absorption is no longer an issue. And he doesn't "spam" Shadow Spread when his HP drops. He continues to use it at a normal, he only spams Trinary Absorption. And if this isn't enough, just use Anima. I didn't, but it's so easy to farm three anima per party member.

              EDIT 2:

Looking at the Wiki, it's Trinary Tap that he spams at low HP.

Pretty freakin' sad that we might have to close a news thread because people can't discuss things politely.

LoL point is nowadays there are a ton of them out there. When CoP first came out there wasn't any.

FFXI will never become a WoW clone. CoP 1-3, 5-3 and 7-5 are not the entire game. And given that we don't even know the extent of these changes, it's extremely premature to say that this is an indication of WotG's difficulty.

Yeah, but it had nothing to do with what I or Burning Panther were saying. That's why I asked.

So let me get this straight: 5-6 areas get tweaks, and this game instantly becomes a wow clone?

Yeah, I'm honestly not sure why people are making that leap in logic.

I mean, yes, I have some concerns. But I certainly don't think that the sky is falling. I'm going to wait and see how the update actually works before rendering any judgment.

I think people are getting the idea because first they came out with the new expansion. Which is way easier then the ones that came before it. An now they are toning down the difficulty of CoP.
