For those of you who are wondering, SE just posted this:

Currently we are experiencing login difficulties with PlayOnline and its services. The issue is currently being addressed, and new updates will follow as additional information becomes available.

Update: Things seem to be stabalizing now. I was just allowed in-game.

Update 2: Well, that was short lived. When trying to log into a character, the error FFXI-3305 pops up. "Unable to connect to world server. Specified Operation Failed."

Update 3: It all works now. :0

Maybe someone got really pissed at SE because they got banned for using 3rd party software.

I woulden't be supprised at this.

RMT's are getting assraped by SE's current implmentations, so they decide to make it harder for the players to get on while buying time to get new accounts and resume the lovley gill-seller bullshit they normally do.

Man do I hate greed.

You know, this just confirmed a suspicion I've had for awhile.

I always thought RMT was responsible for the DDOS attacks since they always happened after a server maintance. If the RMT could log in asap and organize to take out the fresh popped hnms/nms, they could then use a DDOS attack to block other people from getting on.

Considering, that most of those 2000 were probably RMT, I suspect they're all pissy.

Either that or it's the gilbuyers who are pissed that their gil is getting more expensive because SE is banning the farmers.

Oh boy. DDoS again.
I had no trouble logging in, by the way.
They were most likely those RMT Gil Dupers, Packet Sniffers, and Synth Dupers that were banned.
Basically, if they were RMT, I'm thinking they're trying to give SE (and players) hell by knocking people off of their service, as a "punishment for srewing up up their illegal underground business, yo".

Earlier posted on the forums was a scenario where, after a set of DDoS attacks, some people logged on and fought Fafnir, killed him, and logged off. Shortly, another wave of DDoS attacks happened again.

And DDoS happened after EVERY matenence? I never knew THAT....
