    Changes Planned for Patch 1.19

    * The following feature, planned for patch 1.19, is still in development, and therefore subject to change.

Further Insight into Recipe Revision & Abolishment

Over the past year, we have conducted several rounds of balance adjustments to intermediary part recipes, focusing on the number of materials required to create an item in relation to the number of items yielded by its recipe. For most items, this meant increasing a recipe’s yield to accommodate the large number of parts required in the crafting of weapons and gear. New recipes introduced in 1.19, however, will no longer require as many materials, meaning that, if left untouched, current intermediary part recipes will yield more items than crafters need. This could lead to an influx of those items in the market, and ultimately end up disrupting the balance of the in-game economy. To counter this, we have gone back to those intermediary part recipes and readjusted both the amount of materials required, as well as the number of items yielded with each successful synthesis.

Copper ingots are not part of any new blacksmithing and armoring recipes, rendering the item obsolete. To ensure that existing materials are not wasted on a no-longer necessary item, potentially affecting the in-game economy in an adverse manner, we have decided to remove the two recipes for copper ingots altogether.

*Items that are crafted using pre-1.19 recipes have had "Dated" added to their names (e.g. Dated Canvas Robe).

    PATCH 1.19 Notes (Updated 9/29/11)
    * Physical levels have been abolished. In conjunction with this adjustment, the terms "(class) rank" and "skill points" have been changed to "(class) level" and "experience points" respectively. Event Interface tutorials have been added which cover the subjects listed below. These tutorials will trigger for newly created characters at the conclusion of the opening event. Players may select tutorials tailored to their control scheme: gamepad & mouse, or keyboard & mouse.

Re: Changes Planned for Patch 1.19

        May I just say:

THANK YOU, SWEET MOTHER OF CHRIST FINALLY!

I'm still reading the list, but so far I am just absolutely in love with these changes. No more horrendous costs for BSM or CRP! I CAN ACTUALLY MAKE MY OWN AMMO AND NOT GO BROKE!

Seriously, I am so happy that they adjusted the requirements. Scaling down the items needed per synth (along with the output) was a very good call, not to mention removing the need for crystals for a lot of synths - Fire Crystals were a huge headache for me. But now I can just use shards for a lot of those recipes! And no more bullshit 24+ shards (total) per synth either.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna start playing the game seriously again after this update. At least until BF3 is out lol.

EDIT 2: Just also wanted to say that as a hardcore Miner & Blacksmith, I absolutely love that I no longer have to process ore into nuggets. I can just craft ingots right away in the field. Pure freaking WIN! (though I am kinda miffed that my stockpile of nuggets is about to become utterly useless >_<; )

EDIT 3: lol, lots of edits. Seriously though LOOK AT THE CHANGES IN VENDOR PRICES!!! Holy shit, some of them are ridiculous - Steel Ingots are going down from 56k to 10.5! I wonder how all this is going to affect The Markets, as they're lowering yield in most recipes (but also increasing consumption of materials overall really, at least for a lot of alchemy and cloth recipes). Just looking at metals, I can see ingots jumping up in price. How much though is hard to say, given these vendor changes. It may actually be more cost/time effective to just purchase materials from vendors at these new rates.

Still, the crafter in me is just jumping for joy at all this. Now they also said they'd be adjusting mob drop rates though, so I'm wondering if I should get on and go do a farming spree for materials and crystals (and I mean actual crystals, not shards) before the big update. Hmm, ok, for whatever reason Rivets are actually going UP in price from NPCs. Weird. I also noticed that a lot of the plates will now take 2 ingots instead of 1, so that should have a fair impact on armorer goods.

Honestly though this is precisely the kind of update that XI has been in bad need of for years as well, but SE has never done it and likely never will. Also WOOT! Dark Matter prices being cut in half (for the most part)

o- O WTF they're actually INCREASING NPC buying prices?! Oooooookaaaaaaay.... hmm. ok so most of them are going down, lol. just a few went up.

I hope this makes it easier to level up crafts, because trying to acquire weapons and armor using those retainer things has proven to be too much of a fun-slaughtering hassle for this newbie.

TL;DR Screw the "market" I'm making everything by myself should I decide to log on again.

Convert them now when you can.

Edit: ^ updated original post with an updated 1.19 patch. See link because the admins here will kill me for trying to paste that into here.

              Oh and lulz @

              * Please note that all chocobos issued by the Grand Companies are male, and will be referred to as such by NPCs, even if given names such as Sparkles, Misty, Honeydew, and Femalechocbo. (Names will have a 12-character limit.)

Re: Changes Planned for Patch 1.19

I want to know how will they stuff Steel, Mythril and Cobalt armor in there without rising the level cap.

Bronze Celata is R38 Iron is 48 so Steel should be 58 and theres Cobalt Celata too, what will that be? 68? don't see how they're going to add 2-3 tiers of gear between 48-50.

I'm still pissed I can't combine copper and tin ingots into two bronze ingots.

Hmm I guess, I mean all you'd really have to do would be to melt them back down and then let them re-solidify right?

But oh well. That stuff is dirt cheap anyway.

Mog houses, no, because they're completely unimportant that this stage of redevelopment. There's already storage.

They're adding another 100 slots to PCs and Retainers, so we'll be able to run around with 200 inventory.

Gotta love it. No stupid gobbie bag bullshit, just straight up +100 inventory for free

Honestly, this update is just so much win as far as crafting and gathering goes. It'd be nice if we got some more info on the jobs, but the update is on Tuesday so I figure we'll find out soon enough

Guess I'll look more into it because last time I just gave up on the whole retainer thing.

                              Freaking annoying I tell ya.
