For those of you who don't already know (it's not a secret so don't shoot the messenger) you can get dormouse pelts from a vendor in Gridania. It's the hide/pelt vendor so if you don't know who it is you can Google it. They go for 12K and you can turn them into fur with support and a lot of luck at around R11/12 tanning (recommended R15 tanning) The rest of the stuff I would recommend at least R15 to turn them into outfit (Tailoring and Tanning)

I made the tunic but had gotten the boots and hat from NPC via twinklebox. Now I have received an additional 5 of those boxes since then and have 2 full outfits in addition to the one I already own. By the time this event ends I may have enough mats to make another 10-12 outfits and twinkleboxes redeemed for an additional 3 or 4 outfits. Whoever paid 300K or more for the outfit needs to laugh at themselves or cry in a corner. Seriously, you only needed to wait 24 hours from when the first outfit appeared to have gotten yourself one and probalby zero cost.
I did make a profit actually. So far I made almost a Mil off the suit pieces. Most of it has to do with the fact that Ul'Dah is all RAVENOUS for the suit and too lazy to make them themselves.

It also helps that I happened to score 12 Twinkleboxes off the bell so far. I've been selling the coat for 35k, hat for 25k and boots for 25k. They sell... boy oh boy do they sell.

My suggestion: Put a retainer stocked to the gills with santa gear in the Tanner's Den. Put Bazaar Modeling ON and come back 2 hours later. Done.

These are just screens keep in mind.

It's possible that it looks a lot better in-game.

The art style for gear in FFXI and FFXIV are one of the main reasons I am a fan of these MMOs. Every other company seems to get something wrong, but then FF comes along and does that "cliche yet unique" thing you are talking about.. and I love it. I'm just hoping the new teams starts pumping out updates and content like a mad house!

go ffxiv! you can do it!

Yeah I have to agree with that. The workboots are the most striking along with some of the other footgear. In fact, I would go a bit further and say that many of the textures and gear in this game are both a representation of cliched (but done very well) and unique and together they do give off an atmosphere of a modern FF game (post FFVI era) One just only has to look at Squall, Tifa and many of their characters to see this. Best shown in Kingdom Hearts when many of them make cameo appearances. Plus, it's still Rank 50 cap and several years ahead, so there'll be a vast opportunity to add additional new and creative ideas. The engine is there and arguably has done quite a beautiful job to date (anyone arguing against this point really should go and get a brand new graphics card)

Oh ... and mew. Just because.
