Double Buffer is NICE, but I can't run it either.

Double buffer was good going on my trial run with Gridania open sequence for all of 10seconds ... then the PC remembered that it was crappy and the game went to hell in a fluffy handbasket at 5fps. So not cool, brah

I am going to upgrade the system next year, though. A friend of mine is going to help me at that time with shipping since Newegg is a greedy SOB and wants to charge $50 to fly it to Hawaii for a $50 product. I never heard of 100% shipping charge but there you go. Going to avoid that by having it on free shipping to my friend who can then send it on via USPS express for like 1/10 the cost. I'm looking at a mobo, a processor and ram and that could incur $150 in shipping charges directly from Newegg ... although I could also just have my friend get stuff from Frye's, but it's not as cheap as it used to be ...

I'm at 1600 x 900 and struggling to maintain 20 fps with everything up (no occlusion or any of the other stuff and I can't do double buffer) Oddly enough, the game runs decently without excessive screen tearing and I wonder if 24 fps (and not 30) is what's needed to run seamlessly? It's just an odd thing I've noticed.

But yes, to echo Nandito, your screenies are awesome. Your system is rocking that game

Edit: My processor is the main bottleneck right now ... Q9400 ... even if it's a quad, it's still dated technology (4 years?)

Well I spent a fair bit of gil on my rig, but it was specifically so I could be up to date, so I'm happy with the end result. Thank you for the compliments >.<

Double Buffer is NICE, but I can't run it either. I have another 5870 laying around that I need to RMA, but I doubt I can CFX em together because I only have 730w on my PSU.

I'm sure that I'll be able to run the game just fine for the duration of this generation. At the moment, a Hexacore Black Edition CPU is $300, and I'm budgeting $200 for a PSU in the 900-1000w range. All that CFX is pointless without multimonitor though, so I'm probably gonna have to plunk down the change for a 3rd monitor and a new multi-monitor mount.

I just don't feel like doing that much right now, so I'll just deal with 1920x1080 just fine and dandy. Most i'll do is a PSU for CFX so I can at least do double buffer.

If TOR and GW2 fail to get my attention for long I'll probably give XIV a try. Also need a better proc/memory/SSD-HDD combo which I'm updating to next year anyway.

I just hope dual HD4850 are enough to run the game properly with the updated parts.

For the most part, I'm running 1920 x 1080, a borderless window hack, and 4X AA (I had it on 8X for the epeen and cause I can, but I don't notice much of a difference graphically and I get better FPS).

Whoa whoa, off-topic but is that armor in your avatar actually available in FFXIV?

Well an NPC Guard is wearing it, and every piece of gear that NPCs wore in XI; save for unique storyline characters, was available at some point for players to wear, then I'm assuming so!

Thank you! (I had a bit of a crush on your screenies, so I did my best to ensure that I brought something good to the community as well).

I tried toying around with different multi-monitor setups, but since I have two screens, it's awkward most ways I configure it.

3360 * 1080 with the borderless window hack I think would be perfect, but it's not an option in FFXIV settings, and there is no registry hack that I've seen.
