Its called not giving them an excuse, Feba. There will come a point in your adult life where this happens, you just don't want to argue anymore and just want someone to shut up about something.

I have mostly pacified them in recent years by giving them books from their favorite conservative or Christian authors, I just give them nothing from Glenn Beck or Pat Robertson because those fuckers are crazy. This is mostly a smokescreen because it assumes I'm interested about always talking politics.

I'm not, in fact, I'm still detoxing myself from overexposure from earlier this year. I want to get down to a Dennis Miller level of thinking on politics.

But it gives them hope that my interests are larger than video games when they're really not. Its kinda like how you always ask the psychology professor lots of questions just to keep him talking and not assigning you homework. You're feeding his ego, making him happy by thinking you care about his world view, but you're really just trying to cut down your workload so you can go party.

Yeah, I probably won't be playing then. $3 a month extra per character (That isn't a storage slag) -- no thanks. Even at $13 a month, one extra character still puts that $1 above normal MMO pricing. And in those MMOs, I can make 8-ish characters per server with a general cap of 20 to 50 characters per account (depending on the game.)

Not to mention, they still haven't learned their lesson with release dates.

by what I read, you start out with 3 slots at 12.99 and then after those 3 slots, THEN its $3 per extra slot, and you also start out with one free retainer as well. but uummm I dont know how accurate that is, so for now i would still say 1 slot default.

Besides the only real reason to have mutli characters in FFXI was for mules, with inventory being better in this one, plus the retainer, that is not a problem.

Well, I could just get a cheap widescreen LCD monitor, I guess. Its not like getting an HD monitor is a huge leap forward or anything, just more expensive. Its actually the PS3 that requires an HDTV, not a PC.

I just prefer to keep games off my PC because of all the resources games consume and the shit I'm given about having a game on PC. Its a family thing, but even so, when they're over at my home they'll still give me shit about it like I was still living under their roof. All I ever had was one PC game and they acted like it was the ruin of my entire life. It was just the fuckin' Sims, too.

Then again, this is why I also like Steam and downloadable games in general, as it keeps extra software off the shelf and creates a nice illusion for them that I'm "growing up" and not going out and buying more games.

The monitor is the one thing I'm not worried about, as I use my TV for that, but I still think this entire thing is lame. I, like BBQ (I know, guys!) think they should just delay the PC version to release everything at the same time rather than have such a large delay between versions.

I thought SE had learned their lesson about staggering releases for the same MMO. Apparently not.

They should just delay the whole thing if they can't get it out for PS3 at the same time. They are only hurting the PS3 release by doing this, not helping it. Doesn't matter if its platform or region, a staggered release is all kinds of stupid and sloppy. They are totally rushing this release just to get out ahead of other MMOs.

Personally, I don't want to have to build a PC around this game just to play it, but at the same time I didn't like tethering my PS2 to an MMO, even though it did give me one layer of extra security the PC version couldn't give me. So I don't know where I'll go right now, but I don't like how they're dividing the audience like this at the start.

Guess I can go get an estimate on what a new PC would cost to build, its really those damn monitor prices that kill it, though. I do need a new PC more than a PS3 right now anyway and I need that PC for other things, but the requirements for FFXIV are just unreal.

This announcement has only succeeded in turning me away from FFXIV. It's clear from the information released that once again the selling and storing of large numbers of items is going to be a total ball-ache and they fully intend to milk you for something that is an afterthought in other MMOs.

well we have yet to hear the final word and on the official site. Besides PS3 hasn't been tested in beta yet to see how much time they need, so SE probably doesn't even know exactly when it will be ready.

In Japan, yes. In North America, we got the PC version first, then PS2 a few months later.

Don't hold your breath on them getting it out by the end of the year. If they say March, they probably mean it.

Well anyways they should still try to release PS3 version of FFXIV this year.
