I remember traveling in the Rocky Mountains with my g/f and her b/f. We were out on a beautiful sunny day enjoying the twisting, winding roads. I had just passed them on the outside of the lane and was going around a corner. I heard a noise and tried to watch the road and glance back. I didn't have time to really look long so I thought what I saw was in my imagination. I checked my mirrors and knew I HAD seen it! My g/f was on the back of her b/f's motorcycle beating the hell out of him! He was swerving all over the road and these were NO roads to be swerving on! I saw a place to pull over so I did and they soon followed. They both flew off that bike so fast that he didn't even put the stand down. Then I saw them.....hornets and lots of them! All I could do was run away as he was ripping off his shirt and she was flailing her arms. (I'm severely allergic!) To this day I won't forget her beating the hell out of him as we were enjoying the ride!
As far as why they were attacking, we really don't know. At the hospital they suggested it was from the odor of his helmet. He had it cleaned right before we left on vacation and they think the smell of it attracted or angered the hornets. Instead of him moving, he took another shot and in his words "That same wasp flew out and stared at me like 'Look I told you not to be shooting at the hoop!!!' then he made a beeline for my lip." The wasp stung him in his lip and it swole up so big that he was scared to go to work afraid of what his friends would say about his lip. He called his friend Leland who has been his best friend since forever and lives nearby him and Leland couldn't stop laughing at him.

I was helping a friend of mine work putting up some lattice cover one day. Well I had to cut the lattice pieces so I was around the corner of the house in the driveway just cuttin' away. I stopped sawing when I heard this loud buzzing noise, so I turned around and out of the ground came this huge ass hornet. This thing was atleast 5 inches long and as thick or thicker than my finger. This thing turned right too me and came at me! Thanks to my cat like reflexes, I managed to grab a clipboard and right as it moved on for the kill WAM! I sent it flying across the driveway. The impact was loud too, like I hit a baseball. Anyway, at this point, I was screaming for my friend to come help me. I'm not afraid of bees, but at the time I thought this was some mutant wasp. Well it got back up and took off at me again so WAM! I sent it flying to the front door. It stopped moving.. THen finally.. my friend cames around the corner and I show him the hornet and tell him what happened. We walked over to it and watched it. It was trying to get back up and that's when my friend took the lattice piece in his hand hand goes "GRAAAH!!!" as he finished it off. Guts and shit flew on our faces kinda like how blood splatters on movies when they shoot someone.
I found out later from the homeowner that it was a Ground Hornet. I don't get scared easily, but that shit scared me.
Sorry for the offtopic post again, but I had to share that near death experience to the world. Wait till you hear about the time a Sugar Glider went psycho nuts on me and 2 friends.. Everyone's got bee stories. That was my 1 of 2. The 2nd one actually was more of someone else, but I helped cause it. My friend who is deathly afraid of them has a lot lol. He was the one that landed the deadly finisher to the Hornet. My dad keeps all of his suits and dress clothes in the basement, and eventually the bee resurfaced from one of his suits and decided to attack one of his hats. The bee landed on the hat and stayed there for a few mins, so I grabbed the nearest killer I could find..."ORANGE GLO!!!(Thanks Billy Mays)" After I grabbed the Orange Glo the bee had disappeared again, so I was like eff it. He then popped back up on the hat, so I ran at him full fledge spraying Orange Glo. Bee crawled away but didn't die. Ended up having to grab some Raid from my mom and spray the hat, bee fell to ground, I swatted him, bee to trash.

The closest thing to a bee story I have was one time my mother was painting a fence white and some how or another she got paint on this GIANT Bumblebee. I mean this thing was fat as hell and half covered in white paint. It didn't try to attack us or anything, just spent his time floatin about in the flowers.
The funny part of the story is the fact that we kept seein this same giant bumblebee for the next few days, still with white paint on him, just flower hopping all day long.
I've never really been afraid of bees or wasps or anything. If they're outside I leave em alone, if they're in my house I'll swat em dead. Just like any other bug I come across. Only exception is spiders. If I have a spider in my house in some out of the way corner, I'll leave em be.
