Thats how most people get rich in the game. get lucky as hell and get a drop. They don't even have to do anything.

And yea, it is usually the cockiest ones that do.

Yea, I've seen a few people get lucky in game. And its like... "I've been after it for years, yet you get it in one shot, then you are going to just sell it!"

I just hope that the FFXIV actually does reward persistance rather than people who just get lucky.

Hell, it would be like me going to college for five years to get a degree in this one thing, and I worked my ass off at it, and this other guy half asses everything. We both apply for the same place, and the other guy gets the job that pays 55k/.year, while I will have to be stuck flipping burgers even though I was the one that worked my ass off.

I disagree. I'd say its 50/50. A lot of people work hard crafting and gathering items to craft themselves or with friends/ls. A lot of people garden too and that you have to do in volume so it also takes daily time and effort. And camping an NM with a slew of other people doesn't mean you'll get the drop even if you do happen to claim. So sometimes there is a LOT of camping involved and that takes time and effort so they earn what they eventually get. The majority of people who whine, piss, and moan about people who work hard to get things are just too damn lazy to do it themselves or don't have the time to dedicate to playing the game. I'll be truthful, I count myself among the whiners with not enough time and not enough ambition too.

Honestly.. I am one of those lucky bastards. I got the Theifs Knife on accident one day and ended up selling it. But I like to think it was some good karma cause I always gave gil to people who needed it.

what knife are you talking about, there is no knife called "Theifs Knife"


but yeah I don't have time myself to get some of the nice items, in fact I tried for 3 months solid to get Joyeuse. My problem though was every time the NM poped, I could never get enough help for it, or I would loose clam due to all the RDM and CORs that "needed it" -.-

So I finally snapped and said screw it. I don't need all the fancy stuff to be a good DNC or PLD, I will just play the game at my own pace till FFXIV comes out.

Karma has nothing to do with it. I have helped many people start off the game. I've given people items that they cant afford and I happen to have it. I've given people crafting materials when they need it. Its all about luck IMO. Not persistance (Even after camping a NM after three weeks, and the item not dropping gets really stressful. Especially if it can spawn bewtween 3 and 8 hours...), or has anything to do with Karma. At times, I don't think that Karma exists as people who deserve something to happen to them, doesnt happen.

Thats what I'm going to do. I got lucky with an Archer's ring drop, and have been using "cheap" aka decent gear for my Drk. Sam and Drk gear is almost the same, and I'll be using my sam gear when I get to a high enough level to actually use it. And, until FFXIV comes out, I'll just take my time and try to have fun.
