I've noticed resistance when my Bio 2 does 30 damage or even sub-10 damage rather than 70 damage. I don't know if this affects anything else about it.

I've noticed some difference with these spells, but then again my party is mage heavy and debuff happy, (BLM, RDM, WHM). Maybe it's Bio II or Dia II, maybe it's a combo of them with Rasp, Frost, and Drown. Battles do go noticably faster when we debuff, however.

I normally ask for Bio II on mobs that hit hard, as other's have suggested, but I'll almost always ask for it on monsters with a monk job, (like Mandragoras). Maybe it's my fevered imagination, but the melees seem to take a lot less damage from these monsters when Bio II's on them. Perhaps Bio II works against damage from Counter?

If it's something that I know has good armor, though, like beetles, crabs, anticans, etc. I'll whip out Dia II whether the RDM remembers to cast it or not. If Frost or Choke hits that mob also, it becomes much easier to see progress.
