WHM MItts Coffer

Hi All.

Thanks to my very genrous LS friends I managed to get the Beadaeux Coffer Key last night. The first key took 1 hour 45 minutes to get and the last 2 took about 10 minutes.

At level 54 I am still a bit low to use the Mitts but my LS buddies at 60+ went after the coffer. The poor lvl 60+ WHM who was with me opened the chest and promptly died. He wouldn't tell me why either and just said "You'll see." As fore-warned is fore-armed I have a few Qs I would like to ask.

1) I am making an educated guess the Coffer is (potentially)a "Mimic" style monster?
2) Are all the Coffers in Beadeux Mimics?
3) His unfortunate death and the fact that he got the key item as well indicates that both Mimic and the real Coffer can get you the Key Item. Is that right?
4) How can you tell which is a Mimic and which isn't?

chests turn into mimics only if a thf fails to pick the lock. if you have the coffer key you dont have a problem with mimics.

your friend probably died because sneak wears off when you pop a chest. i personally died for my bead coffer, but you can prepare by casting stoneskin/blink/aquaveil and then warping after you pop the coffer as half a dozen quads aggro you. i dont have a blm sub so i tried to teleport. ;\

He popped the coffer and got aggroed by all the Quadavs in the room. Same thing happened to me.

I will just like to say here that you are very lucky... to get that key... I spent 4 days looking for it... no drop >(

Died many times too... sigh...

the coffer occasionally spawns in afflictor rooms. you can blink + stoneskin and attempt to warp after you open the coffer, but chances are fairly slim. personally, i'd suicide for the coffer and have a blm tractor me to safety for a raise II if i had that coffer. fortunately i don't...unfortunately, its in davoi .

Well as it happnened there was a party camping nearby who actually cleared out the small room before the afflictors (down the path on the right) just as the chest respawned.

My two hours of running back and forth through afflictors (yawn) was rewarded with an easy easy chest opening with no MOBs around.

My luck seems to be holding with the AF thing. Only my AF Body left to do now. Dimensional Death.... /shudder

i'd like to say good luck, and have fun with that. i went with 16 people, all mid 50s to 60ish and we got annihilated 1st time around. luckily one of the whms had reraise II on, so we were all back up within 20 minutes for rounds 2 through 4 for 3 victories.

make sure mages have blink + stoneskin on. it WILL save your life if you get aggro.

have every single healer in the alliance make a macro to cure III or IV the main tank...use often.

if there are any blms or rdms in the alliance, debuff and cure instead of wasting mp on nuking. the bastard has insanely high resist rates and permanent shell effect on. an unresisted spell will do 50% damage...
