  • Trouble Leveling....

    Heres my situation:

I cannot find a group for the life of me. I am a level 6 WHM in Windurst and no one will group with me. I really don't want to solo because it is unbelievably boring and it's also very dangerous. I like to group which is why I became a WHM but if I can never find one then whats the point? I have even gone as far as joining a linkshell to find people to group with. All my friends are leveling really fast while I am still stuck around 5 and 6 so I can't hunt with them anymore.

I understand that not everyone will want to group with me but so far I have managed to find 2 groups in the past 3 days, one that didn't last longer then a half an hour. To be honest this is very dissappointing since I have heard WHM's are wanted for groups.

Am I missing something or are WHM's supposed to be a solo class?

Earliest I've ever partied is lvl 11 in the dunes, I see people running around in grps in ronafaure and la thiene...I just dont see the point.

Taking into account the fact that (unless they are working on leveling adv. or subjob) a majority of the people at that level aren't too familiar with the way parties work and what their roles should be(and dunes is a good area to get acclimated with all that) it goes much slower with all the BSing etc.

    I'd just solo man.

good luck, have fun with it !

P.S. if u solo u get to keep all the items and crystals the mobs drop which should help u get some gillies in your pockie

Honestly bud, most folks don't start grouping until at least 10, and most commonly I wouldn't even group until 12-14 range in dunes. Before then, it's fairly decent to just solo. At level 6, you can pretty much average a level an hour if not faster. You can duo for a slightly faster gain, but I would not reccommend full blown grouping until you hit double digits.

Yes i was having the same damn problem two days ago, the thing is to maybe get an HP+ rod, staff, or hammer and a shield and go out soloing til u reach 9 or 10. Because at your lvl partying is uncommon for any job. EXP dont flow enough. But when i reached lvl 9 i went to the Shakrami maze and quickly in two days went to lvl 14 which i am now.

The thing to pass the time is to try to get Decent(no high def) monsters and focus on getting items and gil, check the AH to see what sells well that u can get and focus on those when u attk mobs, a friend told me to and time passed much faster and soon you will be able to pt.

Well, since I absolutely despise soloing I don't think I will miss it too much.

In Windurst whats some good hunting places for a soloing level 6 white mage? E.S is okay but the easy stuff is little exp and the hard stuff kills me easily.

            Any suggestions?

By a general rule of thumb mobs get tougher and exp gets higher the further you get away from each city.

I would jsut head to either of the starting areas coming out of Windy (either east or west) and keep working your way further away from the city. If you are getting really low xp try moving further and further away until you are almost zoning into the next area.

At that point it's time to move out of the starting areas and maybe try a party situation. Remember even if the baddies look the same it doesn't mean they are the same difficulty. Make sure and check them first. If the mob ranks Even Match or higher (tough, very tough, or incred. tough) they will be worth 100+ xp

for a whm i would not even try an even match.

at lv 16 i can't solo easy prey without almost dying, because of spell interruption.

decent challenges and lower are the only thing that's pretty safe for a WHM.

you can kill even matches but you can also die just as easy from my experience.

so as a whm your probably going to have to suck it up to lv 10, it's not very fun, but once u get to go into the canyon and the maze to the north of the canyon, you start having alot more fun.

but that's just my experience as being a WHM, others might think different.

                  1-10/11 - East saruta/west/giddeus
11-15/16 - Tahrongi/Shakhrami maze (if you find a good blm here you can duo Maze Makers for 200xp, these will last until about 14 or 15)
16-20 - Buburimu/Valkurm buburimu has 2 nice beaches with TONS of crabs to chain. most people flock to valkurm but if you get lucky and find a good group you can get to probably 18-19 in a few hours.
20-27 - Qufim. this is where you'll really have fun experimenting with the entire Party idea. by now most people can renkei/mb/tank effectively.

Easy preys shouldn't be that hard for you seriously... I can take on easy preys and decents. Of course as Elvaan, I have much more HP, but all you really have to do is time your spells properly - start casting while the moster hits you and you will find your spell hardly ever gets interrupted. That might mean you have to let the monster hit you once more, but you'll get the spell through.

And don't forget paralyze and slow, they're your best friends as a soloing whm. Make sure to keep your divine and club skills up and soloing easies shouldn't be hard at all at least until 32, which is where I am at the moment. I can't attest to anything past that, though I don't see it changing too quickly.

And to reiterate what the other posters said, don't really worry about partying until at least 10.

WTF is you're problem? It sucks leveling solo as a WHM. Leveling from 1-12 is flawed in this game because there aren't enough mobs to sustain a party bigger than 2 or 3 until you get to at least 10-11. Then after that, you are pretty much forced to party and oddly enough, there are enough mobs to sustain multiple parties. And the game forces you into parties...

If you can just find one person to level with continuously from 7 to 12, you're set.

What is my problem? My problem is people whining about having so do things by themselves for once, and giving up just because they cant get a few extra levels by themselves, hell if i couldnt find a party id go attempt to solo to level its not biggy.

Cymmina put it a good way, i've learned that no one groups before 10 or so, and that sortof sucks in a learning, socializing sense

in other mmo games early level grouping can be pretty fun because the classes havent begun to specialize and there isnt the pressure of higher level fighting and whatnot
