Die when in the city?

Yesterday, as I was running from the AH back to my Mog House in the Bastok Market, I saw a Tarutaru with no HP, lying face-down beside the fountain. I really didn't (and still don't) understand how this happened. And people were just running past us not noticing... I asked if they needed a Raise, but there was no answer, so I just Raised anyway. After that, I tried to ask them how it happened, they said "Sorry, no English", bowed, said "Thank you" (translated), and ran off. Am I missing something here? I asked my LS, and the best they came up with was "Hmm, must be a New Years bug, lol". Thoughts?

Most Likely they probably got some big poison cast on them that was soo intense that they ran in the village and died probably attempting to get something to cure it or to get peoples attention of seeing him dieing further meaning that they would heal him.

probably those only way you can die in town unless a bug

Most likely self-inflicted poison from mushroom or vial...
Tarus do this on a frighteningly frequent basis...

but there are other, poor timing+spell based ways >.>

Same thing happened to me, except this happened at halloween, with the Trick or Treat staff.

I could imagine a little Taru Taru being posioned then running back to town to get help, he comes along a bunch of white mages and tries to get there attention but they don't see him and just ignore him. then he eventually falls face forward and lays on the ground dying. then the white mages just walk and trample over him. :dead:

This also happens when you Warp (Dezone) out of an area and continue to get hit while the spell animation happens. Imagine getting pounded on by 4+ demons in Castle Z'Vahl when you're by yourself, using Chainspell RDM 2-hour ability (instant cast), and then Warp. You're safe! Or wait... when the loading screen goes away, you're dead on the ground in Jeuno at your homepoint. It's pretty frustrating.^^

I've also had this happen to me when someone casts Escape in the party and the monster happens to finish me off after warping.

However, there are some people that will drink poison in Jeuno (true, almost always tarus) either to be funny and startle people, or as great publicity for their bazaar. (Luckily, this hasn't become a trend for bazaar characters.) Of course, almost every passing mage will cast Raise on the devious little fellow.

The bazaar icon shows up even if you die? I never... realized that.

I've also never run into a dead taru in the street. What a... strange way to startle/advertise someone. But the thing is, it must work. And I've never heard of a drinkable poison... wonder what the point of that is. @_@

Most people use the drinkable poison for monsters know to use sleep spells. You cannot be put to sleep if you are poisoned. I know a high level PLD friend uses it when going to fight Shiva because she uses Sleepga all the time.

the drinkable poison is an alchemy item used to buff up weapons (like poison dagger). it isn't made for drinking but if you do it poisons you

I was a dead taru in Jeuno today... popped manafont and warped but still died while zoning ><
