    I'm a LvL 8 WHM right now ...

I have all default Equipment except for the Tunic I bought

The Spells I have are ... Cure, Dia, Protect, and Poisona

I also live in San D'oria (sp?) because my friends are both elves hehe even though they are last place in the conquest campaign

I want to know what other equipment I should buy at the moment... or close to my lvl?

Can some people offer me some Macro help as well?
My macros right now are ...
    /ma "Cure" <st>
    /ma "Protect" <st>
/ma "Dia" <t> <--- What is the <?> for when your teammates attack it so I dont have to target it
    and
    /ma "Poisona" <st>

right now they are all in 1 set

    thanks a lot in advance

If you want to be able to cast a spell without actually targeting the mob use <bt>. I'd also recommend either a <stnpc> or just plain old <t> macro incase of adds or helping a lower player whos running away from a mob/s

Buy a hammer (bronze hammer at your level) for soloing. A wand with +MND would be good for when you're in parties. You should also get the spells Protectra, and Paralyze right away. Both should be really cheap since they drop off of Orcs. Also get Banish.

If you can get to Windurst to do some quests (which I know is a huge hassle at level 8), you can do easy quests to get the Justice Badge (+3 MND) and a compound eye circlet, a nice head piece that adds to your evasion. The Sandoria AH prices for those items might be a bit steep.

For macros, at low levels (until late 20s) I really like setting up a macro key for each party members. SO Ctrl-1 through 6 are Cure for each party member. The macro looks like this:

        /ma "Cure" <me> --> or <p0>. For yourself, on button 1
/ma "Cure <p1> --> For the first party member below you
then replace p1 with p2, etc

          cool

thanks a bunch for all of your replies

i'm lvl 9 now... been leveling up my black mage since the post

i got protectra and paralyze as well

I got the justice badge at the AH for 1.5k.. and i'm gonna buy the circlet if its below 3k

i bought a Holly Staf .. +4 HP +4 MND i think or is it MP i dunno... only 2 more levels until I can use it

as for the <p0> macro.. I think i'll give it a try .. but if you mistakenly cured the wrong person because you were in a hurry or something I can see how that type of macro is ineffective.. but i'm still getting used to the controls so i dunno

          Thanks again for your help

              other ways to target

You can also use the F-keys to select different people in your party.

f1 - selects the first person in the list
f2 - the second person and so on...

              Then I have the macro

              /ma 'Cure' <t>

this way I have a visual confirm that I have the right party member selected BEFORE I cast.

I just don't trust myself as much as Calianeri. But the way Calianeri suggested is a option I may do as I get better at this.

As you get higher (lvl 18) get the Yew Wand for some nice boosts (+3 mnd, +3 eva and something else...) Hope I have that right... Don't have my notes in front of me.

Yeah, macros are very subjective. Since up to level 21 you only have two curing options (Cure and Cure II), I find that using distinct macros for each person is simple... Ctrl-# is for Cure, Alt-# is for Cure II. Most of the time you should only be curing 1 or 2 people repeatedly, so I just hover over those party members' numbers. But as Regen and Cure III start to be used more, they'll need to be fit into your macro scheme too, and then it gets a little complex. So what I do now (since the late 20s) is use the <stpc> targeting command and the F-keys. So my Cure III macro is:

                /ma "Cure III" <stpc>
                /party Cure III --> <lastst>

After hitting that macro, I hit the right F-key for the party member, check the arrow, and press Enter. I could use <t> instead of <stpc>, if you're using the F-keys it makes no difference IF you're not in Attack Mode. <stpc> will limit your tabbing only to other players in view, <t> is any pc or npc in view. If you do go into attack mode though, you'll have to use <stpc>, otherwise <t> will always cast your Cure on the engaged enemy. I have the same macro set up for Regen. I actually still use dedicated macros for Cure I and II, but again, that's just because I'm so used to them, and because those spells are still useful.
