1h or 2h staff?

Ok I understand later on in levels the 1h clubs and mauls for WHM are nice and help out alot, but at 30+ I am going to go Summoner as my Main job and sub the WHM. So should I just work on 2h now so I am well trained in it by the time I can be a Summoner.

Or should I stick to 1h clubs and mauls and once I switch to Summoner as my main train the 2h staff up? as I do not know if Summoner weapons are 2h or 1h.

Or should I train both the 1h blunt and the 2h staff as I work my way to Summoner?

I keep them both trained, since I may choose summoner eventually.
Ash pole is a nice 2h staff to melee with at lowlevel until you can get a brass hammer(1h) at level 12.
