  • What determines the power of Offensive white magic.

I wrote this message on many other forums and the replies are all different~
What I would like to know is white mages learn few offensive magic skills such as Dia, Banish and Holy. Are these determined by INT or MND?
Some say INT since it's an offensive magic and some say it's MND coz it's part of white magic... Could somebody please help answering this question? Thanks

My advise is do not expect any offensive spell of WHM is as useful as BLM's. I will rather reserve my mp for other magic instead of those offensive spell as the damage deals on mobs is minimal which does not help in any fight.

So far I found there is only one skill of WHM which can deal with damage over 300. It is the 220 1-hand club weapon skill. But this skill is only available at Level 67.

Well, I'm pretty sure that MND dictates the power of all white mage spells since that is the main magic stat that is raised when you gain levels. There are two kinds of "offensive" white magic spells: enfeebling magic and divine magic. Divine magic is actually, pretty useful against undead and demons. Though, it is true that it is a pretty specialized magic.

The Divine Skill and the Enfeebling skill are far more important than some small boost in INT or MND depending on race.

As long as your skill is high you will be effective, do not worry about minor adjustments in stats. Training skill just takes time anyways, unlike buying items for gil for +2 int etc.

Diviine magic is just "better" than using BLM burst magic for WHM in the situation of fighting with undead and deamons. But in general the damage is still not good unless the mobs is "easy" or "practice" level.

Normally, group will hunt mobs with "very hard" or "very very hard" level. The damage of offensive white magic is definitely not good, even with bonus damage in magic burst (MB) when cast during the combo of tanks' attack.

So I never care which attribute affect the offensive magic. I will rather care about the MND affects the healing, and my 1-H club skill. 220 1-H club weapons skill, which is exclusive for WHM, can deals as high as 1200 damage to undead, which is comparable to the ancient magic of BLM.

Hi thanks for all the advices
I just learnt new stuff like Divine Skill and the Enfeebling skill.
How are white magic and black magic divided into these skills..?
Also how are they leveled up..?
                Thanks

Well, intelligence determines the power of your black magic generally, and the same goes with mind for white magic. But there are skills like elemental magic (black magic) and divine magic (white magic), just to name a couple, that more directly affect the power of certain kinds of black and white magic. This skill is raised when you use it.
