WHM / BLM to WHM / SUM

What I plan to do with my character, is start with a whitemage, and when I first pick a sub. class (what level?) a blackmage. Once I am able to pick summoner (what level again?:sweat: ), I wanted to sub. that with my whitemage. If I did this, would I be able to use my old blackmage spells that I already had? And as a sub. job summoner, would I be able to summon? Or would that have to be my primary? Either way, I'll work something out, I just want to know what I need to do and stuff. Thanks in advance.

I dont think having summoner as a subjob is good till you are level 50/25 whm/smn since thats when you get auto refresh. I suggest subbing blackmage forever or till you can get 50/25 since blackmage will offer much more (such as warp and escape).

Also summoners dont get any additional summons other than carbuncle unless you complete a quest for it which means you will have to be 55-60 at a minimum to complete those quests.

All spells are kept if you change jobs. Also if you have black mage and white mage spells learned, you dont have to re learn them if you go paladin, darkknight or redmage.

That's completely not true. If you learn a black mage spell, you can only use it as a black mage. For example, if you learn a level 25 black mage spell, you can only use it if you are a level 25 blm for either your main or your sub job. You'd have to be level 50 in your main job to be able to use your level 25 black mage sub, though.

Whm/Blm is so much more useful than a Smn. Blm spells such as Escape, Warp are so nice to have. Even Enfeebling spells are also nice to have with the rest of your whm enfeebling spells.


Smn = more mp true but only for whm only spells.. :/

i am a tarutaru lvl 70 whm,
one thing good about subing blm is for the spells that subing blm gives out like escape and dezone
one thing good about subing smn u get more mp and mp refresh once u are lvl 50 whm with smn sub 25.

heres the difference of mp with smn and blm
my blm is lvl 35 so 70whm/35blm===> 1004 mp maxed for me
my smn is lvl 32 so 70whm/32 smn===> 1031 mp maxed for me

this is with good equipment and food, i usually dont use my af tho.
