I was level 58 War/Nin in an alliance with Farien: 61 Drk/War, from what I could tell, full AF, Vassago's Scythe. I normally do not inspect out of courtesy so I did not look at his non-visable equipment.

      1. Doesn't know what he's doing with his job which could play a big factor in his damage. (I.E. the drk that goes SE+LR+Berserk for WS and wastes them),
This currently seems to be the biggest problem. I don't know the strategies for using the DRK abilities, but I know NOT using them is not the right strategy. I mean no disrespect to the DRK in our SP, but SE was never used until I asked him to do so on #5. I think I had asked for SE to be used for #5 but what happened was him stacking Berserk, Last Resort, and Soul Eater for 440dmg Vorpal Scythe and him going from 1000hp to ~100hp in a span of seconds. I damn near got him killed but we ravaged #5. We will probably continue experimenting to bring his damage up, but I know there is a lot of damage being left out there due to how his character is being played. Equipment is certainly not lacking in any way.

I've seen problems with the DRK not using the abilities in other parties too (perhaps most), so it isn't just an isolated case. I would guess that a number of bad experiences while learning the job abilities have left them with two job abilities that they think are too dangerous to use. In addition, it is one of those jobs that EVERYBODY wants to play so you will find, just like PLDs, that there are considerably more bad ones than good ones.

A good start of these bad habits probably begins right when they acquire SE. A place where the players are packed in like sardines and mages are instantly grabbed up. Soul Eater goes up, the HP drops fast, and those uneducated abot the job cheer for more while the poor RDM running main cures leaves because they cannot fill the role they are filling. Or perhaps it was that poor WAR that didn't know what he was doing and couldn't tank, leaving the DRK to tank and, consequently, die.
