Bone Set vs Lizard Set

I wore the Lizard suit w/ the Bone Mask...looked like some freakish clown.

The Lizard Helm didn't last too long, I think I wore it one battle and took it off.

The Bone head, hands, and feet have exactly the same defense as the Lizard gear, and are equipable by a wider range of jobs, so, if you plan on playing more than just War at that level range, and want to keep you armour as up to date as possible, then you would be best served by buying the entire bone armour, and buying the Lizard jerkin and trousers.

I knew I was going to be taking Warrior, Monk, Paladin, and possibly Bard through those levels, so I just got the entire bone set, with the Lizard torso and legs for lvl 17-21 for War and Paladin. Once I've got Paladin through those levels, I'll probably sell the lizard off, and just keep the Bone armour for other melee type jobs, though I personally think the lizard armour looks better than the bone, myself.

The problim with all you people saying subligar + harness sets look stupid, is you are probibly all males. Be a mithra or a female hume and it just looks so much better.

At level 20 you can get +1 vit pants. I used those from 20-24.

All bonecrafted subligars are pants. Smithing subligars aren't pants.


I like the Bone +1 gear. Sure, it's more expensive, but +evasion doesn't hurt.

How many IT mob hits can you actually evade though? Maybe if you get a lot of evasion and agi it might help.

How many IT mobs can you actually evade though? Maybe if you get a lot of evasion and agi it might help.

Not many, I'll admit. However, I'm a MNK/WAR tank (for now, all the tanks in Valkurm suck except for a few). So when I throw on Dodge (which adds evasion) and the evasion I get from Battle Gloves, I've got a decent amount of evasion.

Also remember though, evasion helps with hate. When you get hit, that's -enmity. However, if you dodge, the -enmity never occurs.

And with the subligar I believe, you get an extra two DEF from the +1's. If it's not the subligar, it's another one of the pieces.

And well, since I'm a monk, I can't wear the Lizard Set anyway. However, I still prefer the Bone +1 gear. The DEF is, overrall, much better than that of the Lizard Set's, and you get +1 Evasion for each piece as well. Expensive? Yes. At oftentimes 8k or so a piece, it's expensive.

However, I like to have the best gear for my level. That's why I've got both Strike Baghnakh's (27k) and Tropical Punches (12k), in addition to a Warrior's Belt +1 (18k), I'm thinking about getting the +2 VIT rings (near 20k apiece), etc. I like to be the best. Sure, you can be an average tank and get along, but I prefer to leave a lasting impression on my party when I leave. When I leave, I don't want them saying, "Make sure to get a better tank this time," or anything of the sort. I'd rather have them say, "I hope we can find a tank as good as he was." And well, having +1 gear helps with that. If someone inspects you, and you've got all +1 gear, they're going to be expecting you to be badass. Not only that, but when they see, "xxx eats Fish Mithkabob," they think, "Now we've got a tank who cares."

Distinguish yourself from the rest, be all you can be. And well, if you do, you may have to farm. And farm a lot. But I don't care if I have to spend a week farming. Because I know that afterwords, I'll be badass. With the best gear for my level, I walk around proudly. When I can tank better than a PAL/WAR, I feel that I'm doing a good job. When I tank better than a WAR/MNK, they need to step it up a notch.

My point is: you can prefer either the Lizard Set or the Bone Set. Both have +1 counterparts (some +1 Lizard gear is called Fine x or y, not Lizard x or y +1). However, with the Bone Set +1, you're going to have an advantage. The DEF will be the same, but you've got +evasion to help you out as well. And, not to mention, the Bone Set can be used by a larger variety of jobs, so that way you don't end up buying both the Lizard and Bone sets because you needed to level your sub. I prefer to save up my hard-earned gil and get the most out of it. However, you can do whatever you want with yours.
