Level 20/21 Gear

Hi, after tonight. I'll be lvl. 20-21 and be heading over to Jeuno. My question was...

Should I get the Beetle set now? or hold out for Chain at 24?

Is Spike Necklace worth it?

Things I know i'll have for sure at lvl. 21 is...

Weapons: Neckchopper/Braveheart
Head: Beetle Mask +1
Rings: 2 Balance Rings
Back: Dhamel +1
Waist: Warrior's Belt +
Ranged: Boomerang

So...I need items for...

Body/Arm/Legs/Feet/Earrings

I have 2 Bone Earrings +1, but I probably won't use those at lvl. 21, right?

Yes, get beetle. If you're only taking warrior to 30ish for an advanced job, you can make due with beetle set all the way to 30. If you want to also have chainmail set, go ahead as well.

Good to have a spike necklace if you notice yourself missing. Stats count, so don't think it's ineffective. You do get examined by party members sometimes, so you might want to impress.

As a warrior, for body, hands, and feet, I'd recommend beetle set at 21. You could wear beetle subligar, or if you are from sandy, then you can get royal footman's trousers with conquest points. For earrings, best bet should be Beetle Earrings+1 (+3 attack, -2 evasion).

Is the Subligar like the normal subligar? Will my legs be showing? Im against Subligars...haha

Im from Windurst, but I could always buy that leg armor right?

I dress to impress. Chain mail im getting for sure, a guy in my LS is going to sell it to me cause he needs to buy lvl. 40 Paladin gear.

Im going to Lvl. WAR past 30. But im also going to work on BST. So I probably won't get the awesome Centurion Gear anytime soon.

Is all the +1 Beetle Gear worth it for a +5 in Evasion? or Should I just get the normal ones?

The bonecrafting (bone, beetle, carapace, coral(?)) subligars are actually pants, thank god.

If you can get a group together for it, you may want to look into doing the new Garrison thing, because that set is pretty spiffy.

I personally went with Lizard to Beetle + RF Trousers to Chainmail to Centurion's Scale.

In my opinion, the +1 equips (armor wise) aren't really worth it. Unless it is much, much, much better. In my opinion, one extra defense, and Evasion+1 isn't worth a extra 5,000+ gil.

But, I do buy any +1 to STR, DEX, Attack and Accuracy, so, if any gear gives anyone of those... reguardless of price, I'll buy it, WARs don't need Evasion, and our Evasion is capped so low, that I bet even if we do get one extra point of Evasion it wouldn't help.

Get +1s if it is STR, DEX, Attack and Accuracy+.

Spike Necklace (Fang+1 I believe) is awesome. Don't bother getting the Fang, just go for the Spiker, same thing applies to the Beetle Earrings+1.

If you can really afford Beetle+1 suit, then go ahead. I'd say its not worth your money, as you'll be replacing it in 3 levels. Go for Beetle suit regardless, you can recoup your money by selling it back when you upgrade to Chainmail. On Ragnarok, I actually made a profit selling Beetle suit back, by buying in Sando, and selling in Windy.

Spike Necklace is a great investment, as it will last you a very long time. Well worth it.

Beetle subligar is, if I recall correctly, dark blue leatherish pants. Not like normal subligar. I used Ryl. Footman's Trousers instead, as they are better.

With Neckchopper, you'll pretty much outdmg any melee (counting Ranger as a nuker here) in most of your parties.

Once you reach Kazham levels, buy a Plantbane. In Kazham, with a Plantbane, you'll outdmg many melees easily, especially vs. Mandros. I doubt you'll be putting your 2h Sword to much use. Great Axe rocks too much. About the only time I can see you using Great Sword over a Great Axe is if your party has no Distortion skillchain alternative. Distortion owns Goblins.

To give you an example of how much damage a Warrior puts out with Double Attack, Berserk (only when not the tank obviously), and Great Axe, I've regularly pulled aggro off of maintanks (including one PLD, who obviously wasn't very good) by just hacking away. If you pull aggro, don't cancel Berserk, instead activate Defender (when you get it at 25) until tank regains aggro, and click that off instead.

save your money, no need to get the +1 beetle stuff. Spike necklace is definately good.

I also think the garrison gear is neat, but it's hard to get (really tough fight).

Yeah, I really want my Windurst Suit. Seems like it would take a long time though. Don't you only get 3 pieces for the battle and you have to lot on it with others.

Thanks for that response Jay. I love my great axes...I just want to keep my Great Sword capped. So I switch to it sometimes.

err, if you want that green windurst outfit from starving artist & tazirai's post, keep on waiting. Those are not garrison gear. Best guess is that they are rank 10 armor.

Awww, I got mis-information from else where I assume. What does the Garrison outfit look like?!! Can it be bought or is it Rare/EX?

Edit: What is the name of the Garrison outfit? Stats better than Beetle?

garrison looks like vagabond gear. It's regular so it can be bought, traded, etc.

DEF is lower then Beetle, but some of the +stats seem to be worth it. Some shouldn't be worn by a WAR though (head and boots are +mage stats, so I doubt they'd be worth it with their lower DEF).

Hit level 21 last night. Im very pleased with my Gear. Im doing some sick damage, not taking much and keeping hate all at the same time.

Beetle looks exactly like Bone, im a little disappointed the mask wasn't green. Thats what I was expecting it to look like. Other than that, good stuff.

Just waiting to hit 24 for Chain, then I wont have to worry about anything for a while cept for maybe my Plantbane when I goto Kazham.
