AF Axe...

OK, I hit Lv42 and I think I am able to equip it. I want to know, where I need to get it, how much fame, how many Lv70's I have to bring with me. (Easier to get 2 Lv70's than, a alliance of 50's so, please, don't mention it, just tell me how many 70's.) Also, who gives the quest, etc.?

I think a lvl 60-75 could solo your AF1 =/

I don't think you need an alliance of 50s for any af1. Full PT maybe, as long as you aren't missing any important jobs in the PT.

1 lvl 70 should be plenty, though if it's a whm or brd... it could take some time... :p

75 blm and 75 nin took it down quite easily so I imagine any 70 could do it solo.

58 drg can't solo it though.

2x level 63 monks can easily solo Warrior AF1. I had a few others (63whm, 54whm etc) along too, but neither monk needed much healing, one tanking each mob.

Why not just get one Warrior? I got a lvl 68 warrior/sam. He voked one then we both attacked the one that wasn't voked he got down to about 300 HP but we killed both of them. It was so much fun watching him spam rampage ^^

quest NPC: Phara (old lady), Bastok Mine, near Chocobo Stable

requirement: WAR lvl 40 or up

go to a village at K-9 in Davoi, and find "Hide Flap" that spawns randomly at one of the tents there. as u check it, if the one u checked is the "right" one (chosen completely random, and may take several tries), 2 NM's spawn. after u defeat them, find "Hide Flap" again and check it. u then obtain an important item. (don't know the name in English.)

go back to Bastok, and talk to Phara. then wait until the next Vana'diel day, and talk to her again. she'll give u another important item (again, no English name), then bring it to Naji in Metalworks. (he's a guard of the presidential office.) Naji then gives u an AF1 weapon.


i solo'ed this quest as a lvl 63 PLD. not a tough fight at all, just that NM's hp were a bit high, so just a matter of time.

I did this with my set party at level 40 it took awhile but was not too difficult, the biggest thing is when you find the hide flap make sure and clear out the area before you pop the NMs it becomes a huge biatch when they link and we almost died from a couple of the orcish war machine (flamethrower?) that popped right next to us. Forgot to post how mine went. It was very easy with me, a 60 DRK, and a 60 MNK. Monsters did have pretty high HP, but didn't really offer much offense. No one used food or anything for the fights.

Managed to take off about 500 each from the DRK and MNK. I'd say that a 65 MNK could probably solo them.

The BLM wasn't hard. I figured he'd be very dangerous, but he wasn't, at all.


Anyways, got that over with. Which was good because Combat Caster's axes are very rare on Fairy (Windhurst sucks). I only got one, now I got this and I'm good to go

Yeah Combat Caster's is better.

But, not really on AH, and, this one is free. Plus, I'm only doing it so I can do other AF quests.

Warriors are get.. but dont get me wrong dont u think its a bit girlish how on a warrior /male has his stomach showing personaly i think its a tad homo.. XD but overall warriors are cool

Just 1 70-er will do. AF1 isn't that hard to get...
You don't need fame for AF quests... and although it sux stat-wise, you just need AF1 to open the rest of your AF lol

not for WAR's AF1, it ain't.

thanks to the STR+2 and DEX+2, WAR's AF1 Axe makes one of the best in that lvl range. of course, there r 2 questions; would WAR use Axe in leveling parties before Rampage over other weapons? and why is WAR's AF1 an Axe, not Great Axe?

aside from those wonders, WAR's AF1 is indeed useful, unlike the one for MNK, ur main job. and i say this because i play both jobs.

as to other jobs' AF1, some r really usefull while some indeed suck like u said, such as those of BRD and RNG.

Ya, WAR AF1 is pretty good stat-wise. Combat Caster's has higher damage, but the DEX+2 and STR+2 is handy.

I use Dual Axes. The combined damage is quite respectable*, double the stat boost, plus there are two chances for Double Attack and two or more chances to crit. Also, you don't have the dreaded misses, with two chances to hit instead of just one. Delay is about the same as with GAXE.


*depending on enemy type. On low-defense stuff I use axe. On crabs and whatnot, great axe definitely gives greater damage.
