good idea/bad idea

idea: I plan on being a DRG, but I will work on warrior for a bit, for sub. And I've hard of warriors carrying polearms in equipment and switching from sword and shield to polearm and raising their skill.

thought: warriors already cost a lot.

Is this a good idea or bad idea?

of course it's a good idea. what self respecting WAR wouldn't carry around a couple of sets of weaponry.

Playing as WAR you should use great axe instead of sword and shield. Great axe is a better weapon for WAR and it has the powerful "break" weapon skills. Then along with great axe you can lvl polearm too if you want, but i would use either one hand axe and shield, or great sword. Then i would lvl polearm once you finally get DRG.

Warriors don't cost THAT much. Not as much as a mage or a Ranger. We only need to keep ourselves fit with the best armor and like 3 weapons or so. I carry 4, SWD, GSWD, GAXE, and polearm. If you don't want to feel the gil costs buy weapons and armor every 3-5 levels and auction of everyother thing you have from drops.

If you want to be up to date on everything do something like crafting or fishing on the side for more income.

I wasn't going to go to warrior for a while though.

I'm going to start off as a red mage. Then probably hit 18, and level up war, whm, blm, and monk

Then continue with rdm/whm. Then when I get to 30, one of my friends on the server is going to help me with the dragoon quest. And then I'll probably do random jobs then, just whatever my pt needs. But 60+ I plan on being drg/war

so ok, I'll probably use swords, Great axe, and polearm

Why not use 1haxe and shield? Thats what i mainly use for my war. 1haxe still has an A rating for War, plus you get the added defense of a shield.

Does everyone have to tell us their story what they do past 30 . Im gonnna reach thirty, the go DRK/DRG/MNK..etc.

It gets annoying. If you are going to just use it until then use what u want. If you wanna be DRG it would be smart to use polearm. If you wanna be DRK use Gsword and Scythe... same goes for every other melee people switch to after 30. The price for WAR isnt that much, well it sort of is when you have to buy chainmail, just tkae the time to farm though.

If you're not taking war post 30, use whatever weapon you want in the ones that are A or B rated. If you can afford it, try to have 2 weapons on you. Sometimes you'll end up in group with 2-3 players using the same weap. Change your weap and try to work out a good sc, cause scing with 3 spears in a group is impossible.

Sure great axe is the best war weapon with highest dmg output/utility ws, but it's not appealing to all war if you want to reroll something else. If you go drg, you can use spears as a war and keep to reuse them once your drg reach the min level to use them.

Unless you're talking about neckchopper, 30-40k gil lvl 20 great axe, war isn't that expensive. If you can't afford chain, buy beetle at 21 then upgrade to brass scale at lvl 27. Casters are expensive in this game, as a whm i had to pay 30k+ for cure3, regen, raise, protectra2, stoneskin and bar-ra spells, and my gear wasn't updated yet. Sure things can cost a lot, but you can resell them when you're done.
